The Vatican has just completed a five day conference on astrobiology where scientists convened to discuss the detection and implications of extraterrestrial life. A major driving force behind the conference was the Director of the Vatican Observatory, the Jesuit priest Father Jose Gabriel Funes. In May 2008, Funes gave an interview to the Vaticans LOsservatore Romano newspaper saying that the existence of intelligent extraterrestrials posed no problems to Catholic theology. The conference itself was officially convened by the Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Sciences, chaired by its religious leader Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, and was held on private Vatican grounds from November 6-10. Together with Funes 2008 interview and subsequent public comments by him, the conference demonstrates a welcome openness by the Vatican on the possibility and implications of extraterrestrial life. The Vaticans openness to discussion of extraterrestrial life is no accident. It is part of an openness policy secretly adopted by the United Nations in February 2008. In fact, the Vatican is playing a leading role in preparing the world for extraterrestrial disclosure.
For most observers, the conference was an innovative scientific gathering sanctioned by the Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Sciences to show the Holy Sees support for modern science in the detection of extraterrestrial life. The conference primarily focused on the detection of primitive extraterrestrial life forms, and featured presentations from nearly 30 international experts in astronomy, physics and biology. Marc Kaufman from the Washington Post reports:
Scientists (many of them nonbelievers) are offering presentations on subjects as varied as how life might have begun on Earth; what newly found "extremophile" microbes living in harsh places on our planet might tell us about possible life on others; and how life forms might be detected in our solar system, or how their bio-signatures might be found on and around the many distant exoplanets.
Discussion of the implications of intelligent extraterrestrial life, both scientific and theological, did not appear prominently in the conference agenda. One of the presenters, however, Prof Paul Davies commented on the religious implications of discovering intelligent extraterrestrial life: "If you look back at the history of Christian debate on this, it divides into two camps. There are those that believe that it is human destiny to bring salvation to the aliens, and those who believe in multiple incarnations," Davies pointed out that the multiple incarnations theory, the idea that multiple examples of Jesus Christ would be found in the universe is a heresy in Catholicism."
The Vatican, through Funes, is supporting the idea that the incarnation of Christ is a unique event in Earths history tied in to humanitys fall and original sin. This idea was a major focus in Father Funes May 2008 interview which was titled "The extraterrestrial is my brother." Funes said that intelligent extraterrestrial life may not have experienced a fall, and may be free from Original Sin [remaining] in full friendship with their creator. This makes it possible to regard them as our brothers as Funes explained:
Just as there is a multiplicity of creatures on earth, there can be other beings, even intelligent, created by God. This is not in contrast with our faith because we can't put limits on God's creative freedom "Why can't we speak of a 'brother extraterrestrial'? It would still be part of creation
Most importantly, Funes statement makes possible the idea that Christianity can be exported to extraterrestrial worlds that have not experienced a fall and are free from original sin.
The Vaticans new openness on extraterrestrial life is consistent with reports of secret discussions held at the United Nations that began in February 2008. The Vaticans permanent representative to the UN, Archbishop Celestino Migliore, was reported to have attended along with a number of other prominent government officials to discuss increased UFO sightings and the implications of extraterrestrial visitation. Significantly, Migliore's position requires that he maintains close relations with the Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Sciences. At the time of the secret UN discussions, Migliore made a presentation on moral issues associated with scientific problems such as climate change. Most importantly, the UN discussions reportedly led to a new policy of openness being adopted by approximately 30 nations that would begin in 2009.
Another noteworthy participant reported to have attended the 2008 UN discussions was Britains Permanent representative at the time, Sir John Sawers. Sawers was later appointed to head Britains prestigious foreign intelligence service MI6. The appointment of a diplomat to head an intelligence service was highly unusual. According to a BBC report: giving the job to someone more recently associated with diplomatic service was regarded as a break from the tradition. Seen in the context of the February UN meetings, perhaps MI6 was acknowledging the need for greater diplomacy in dealing with problems posed by a new openness policy on UFOs, and eventual disclosure of extraterrestrial life.
The Vatican sponsored astrobiology conference was a landmark event. It showed that the Vatican was willing to officially sanction public discussions on the existence of extraterrestrial life. More significantly, it showed that the Vatican was willing to initiate a comprehensive dialogue on the theological implications of the discovery of intelligent extraterrestrial life. The Vaticans astrobiology conference is yet one more sign that major global institutions are preparing for some kind of formal disclosure concerning UFOs and/or extraterrestrial life. This is a direct outcome of a series of landmark meetings at the UN beginning in February 2008 that led to the adoption of a new openness policy.
After more than a year of openness, the Vatican is taking the openness policy to a new level, and preparing the public for some kind of formal extraterrestrial disclosure announcement. Numerous independent sources have predicted such disclosure is imminent, and that the Obama administration is expected to play a prominent role. The Vatican is also positioning itself to play a major role in such an announcement and in a post-disclosure world. Its emerging theological position that extraterrestrials are our brothers is a welcome departure from more hostile depictions of extraterrestrial life found in some religious denominations and in Hollywood movies. On the other hand, the idea that the Vatican could justify sending missionaries to convert extraterrestrials born without original sin, does raise major concerns. The Vatican, nevertheless, is currently playing a constructive role in preparing the public for the imminent disclosure of extraterrestrial life.

[Event Notice: Dr Michael Salla will speak about the theological implications of extraterrestrial life at the upcoming Earth Transformation Conference on the Big Island of Hawaii (January 7-12, 2010).]
I’ve been exceedingly kind
and continue to be . . . even to the rabidly hostile cliques.
Not my fault y’all’s kindness detectors are broken.
LOL.
Time will show the opposite.
On all counts.
Awwwww more chronic sweetness, I see.
In time your part in the UFO deception will NOT be like a rash all over the FR computers?
Are you planning a data purge?
Yeah. mohammed listened to the hissings of the Serpent in a cave, and the mohammedans are still sooooooo much more technologically advanced than the Christians some 1400 years later...
It’s so much fun when the clique manifests unreality.
IIRC, in 11 years or so, I think I’ve gone to a mod maybe 5 times . . . 6 at most . . . And IIRC, 4 or 5 of those were about outrageous abuse of other people or threatening violence to public officials.
However, the clique’s habitual bearing false witness is noted.
Naw.
It’s just that even the rabid and clueless clique will have to face what truly is DECEPTION and what is vividly displayed fact.
Nah. There are pictures!
IIRC, Genesis 6 includes God’s hostility toward the fallen angels for sharing war making technology with mankind.
They’ve been at it again on a much more advanced and ‘grander’ scale.
God has scheduled even more definitive disciplines . . . in His time.
As Scripture calls Him, . . . God of the angel armies
WILL WIN IN EVERY WAY, IN EVERY CASE, OVER EVERY FOE.
IT’S ALREADY A DONE DEAL.
Just as there is a multiplicity of creatures on earth, there can be other beings, even intelligent, created by God. This is not in contrast with our faith because we can't put limits on God's creative freedom "Why can't we speak of a 'brother extraterrestrial'? It would still be part of creation
That may be in their book but it is not in mine.

That's what I'm talking about, the deceptions of the UFO nuts v. the reality everyone else lives.
How insulting. Got a big chip on your smarmy shoulder?
I agree, the UFO Doomsday Cultists have no grasp on reality, just a smattering of their beliefs.
-Belief in multiple races of Aliens
-Belief these aliens are making and breaking deals behind the scenes with the nefarious powers that be.
-Can't decide if Aliens actually are Aliens or if they're actually Fallen Angels
-Believe Aliens have bases at the bottom of the ocean AND underground
-Believe that Alien abductions are real and that they number in the millions
-Believe that crop circles are real
-Belief in "recovered memories" under hypnosis about abductions and anal probes and sex with aliens are real
-Belief in hybrid races of alien/humans walk the earth
-Belief in slurry pits of human body parts that the aliens use to feed
-Belief in "bible code" and hidden word messages, ignore that the same results can be found in Moby Dick or any other book.
-Belief that Doomsday Prophets are real, even after their prophecies fail
-Belief that they can ignore Scripture about False Prophets
-Admit that their pet Doomsday Prophets are not 100% accurate even though Scripture tells them that 100% should be the standard for prophets.
-Willingly spread lies from satan all over the internet from these proven false prophets
-When confronted that they're working with satan by promoting known false prophets they react with venom against that truth
It seems these rabid, clueless UFO Doomsday Cultists groups could care less about the truth, that they're willing to spread satan's lies no matter what the cost, even willing to sacrifice their own souls rather than admit they're wrong. Sometimes I wonder if these rabid cliques simply knowingly and willingly work for satan to spread his lies and disinformation and confusion
They work hard to pull other people into their satanic cult under the auspices of believing in UFO's. They work tirelessly for satan, twisting and misinterpreting scripture to make it fit their UFO Doomsday Cult beliefs
Whether satans little helpers know what they're doing or not, the end result is the same, they are bringing people into the camp of the great deceiver, satan.
Sorry. Didn’t realize you were a Nazi...
};^P>
Thanks for continuing your digging.
Your continued digging sure is piling up a mountain of reaping.
Incredible.
Again, there’s no digging necessary...it’s all over your posts. Bob’s list in 94 is very instructive.
Those deceptions are yours.
I think you missed the context. Read post #68 and #69 as one post.
Does that help?
No insult intended, my intent was to decouple high technology from Holiness.
We should not expect high tech aliens to be more Holy than us, any more than a Roman should trust that a high tech Nazi is more spiritually advanced than his Pagan Rome.
IOW, should space aliens ever actually show up, we should neither worship them, nor trust them as spiritual guides any more that we would one of our own.
Hope this helps. Sorry about the flip answer...
More like a mountain of nonsense of what the UFO Doomsday Cultists believe, it’s amazing how gullible some folks are don’t you think? The rabid cultists believe in so many criss-crossing conspiracies that it’s hard for anyone in touch with reality to make sense of their twisted, bizarre, satanic beliefs.
The UFO doomsday cultists make Alex Jones look rational, that’s quite a feat. When the cultists beliefs are laid out like that it’s pretty tough to look at, the cultists can’t even deny that this is what they believe. They just keep tirelessly working for satan, spreading his confusion, deception and lies. I wonder what satan has promised them as a reward for twisting scripture and spreading confusion and leading folks away from the Word?
