What a wonderful post and such a lovely dog. I agree, there is just something amazing about dogs, I think I’m going to go hug mine right now :)

Be careful not to glorify angels, who are just God’s messengers, over the Creator himself. Worshipping or praying to angels is just wrong.

And remember that angel powers are God-granted and limited. ...

Respect angels, but worship God

Thank you. Well said!

Don’t confuse having a spirit (aka: life) with having a soul

We will have no need for dogs and cats in heaven

We won't be spending eternity in heaven. Those who die before the end of time will be in heaven only transitorily. The redeemed will spend eternity on the new Earth, in glorified, *physical* bodies.

There is no reason to believe the new Earth will be unlike this Earth which, prior to the Fall, was perfect in God's eyes. An Earth without animals?

You know, "we will have no need" for plants either. Will the new Earth be just a barren rock?

No animals, no vegetation.... Doesn't sound like paradise to me.

All dogs don't go to heaven

Too bad an all-powerful God is unable to bring our soulless dogs with us into eternity. He can't do *everything*, right?

That dog saved my life twice. Literally. If he wasn’t an angel, he was working in collusion with them :-)

I suspect there is a difference between souls and spirits. While souls are uniquely human, animals are imbued with a spirit.

In fact, I suspect dogs have much shorter lifespans than people precisely because it takes them far less time than humans to earn a spot in Heaven :-)

To: NYer; a fool in paradise

None other than Neil Sedaka confirmed that he was living right next door to an angel!

“Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?”

How do we know it’s not all God?

Very interesting article, I found the following section particularly interesting:

The two most destructive of these heresies—and the two most popular—are angelism, confusing man with an angel by denying his likeness to animals, and animalism, confusing man with an animal by denying his likeness to angels.

Man is the only being that is both angel and animal, both spirit and body. He is the lowest spirit and the highest body, the stupidest angel and the smartest animal, the low point of the hierarchy of minds and the high point of the hierarchy of bodies.

More accurately stated, man is not both angel and animal because he is neither angel nor animal; he is between angels and animals, a unique rung on the cosmic ladder.

But whichever way you say it, man must know angels to know himself, just as he must know animals to know himself, for he must know what he is, and he must know what he is not.

I'm surprised no one has commented on that (that I saw) in this thread.

Angels are pure spirit and they are everywhere - even the bad ones. Man, on the other hand, is corporeal and spiritual. Why are you surprised about the lack of comments?

> Wow, such an UNSCRIPTURAL prayer!

Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

Respect angels, but worship God.

Correct, and remember everyone, Satan is an angel, therefore Satan is not God's equal, Satan is a created being ...

What if the angles are especially acute?

I've always preferred the ones that are right.
