Did President Obama Mislead Pope Benedict? [Catholic Caucus]

In the late afternoon of July 10, President Obama met privately with Pope Benedict XVI for just over 30 minutes. According to official Vatican spokesman Rev. Federico Lombardi, S.J., "The president explicitly expressed his commitment to reducing the numbers of abortions and to listen to the church's concern on moral issues."

On July 13 in a Senate committee hearing, Sen. Barbara Mikulski was forced to admit under persistent questioning by Sen. Orrin Hatch that the new health-care bill includes abortion coverage. Planned Parenthood's Guttmacher Institute estimates government funding of abortion increases abortion by 20 to 35 percent.

There were 1,206,200 abortions in 2006, according to National Right Life (the last annual results available). The math is easy: If the heath-care package currently being pushed by Obama is passed, the result will be 240,000 to 420,000 more abortions in the first year alone.

It’s an authority that belongs to the bishops not the Pope.

Lying to non-believers is O.K. in Obama’s religion.

I wish the Pope would come over here and give a brutal pinpointed speech to Catholics that they cannot call themselves Catholic and then say they agree with homosexuals, abortion etc...

You cannot be Catholic on a Sunday and then be a Democrat.

As for Bozo misleading the Pope.

Well most certainly he did as he does to everyone.
Did anyone see Bozo’s wife just as they said their good byes?

She looked at her husband and gave a look of get me out of here I’m bored with this crap.

Thinking about it exactly what religion is the Obama’s??????????????????????????????????????????????/

No the racist anti American Rev Wright so called place of worship is not a religion.

Ah, I’m a protestant, so i didn’t actually know that.
Why hasn’t the bishop of her are excommunicated her?
I mean there’s the Catholic stance (which I agree with) that abortion is murder and to advocate & endorse it (as Mrs. Pelosi has) is unacceptable. (Just look at the rightly-deserved condemnation of Notre Dame recently over the matter.)

One excommunicates oneself. If I suddenly decided to go against Church teaching I’d no longer be able to call myself Catholic.

And yet what did the USCCB do in response to the Obama/Notre Dame scandal? NOT A DAMN THING! They looked on and did nothing. Didn’t even bother to remove the Catholic label. I feel outraged that our bishops have done nothing, absolutely nothing in regards to this. Nothing! I garauntee you, that years from now pro-lifers will be asking, “Where was the Church?!”.

The Pope is not a corporate executive. He could excommunicate Pelosi directly, but that’s up to the bishop to do that.
