**Off the Rails: Was Vatican II Hijacked?**
Yes, I think it was hijacked by the liberal clergy which resulted in a lot of liturgical and other changes that really were’t specifically endorsed by Vatican II.
I’ll be interested to know what others think.

In hindsight, the Holy Ghost uses bastard child of the Vatican II, the so called spirit of VII, to flush out poisons of the Church, which has been brewing for quite some time. Pope St. Pius X was certainly aware of it, hence the teaching against Modernism. Heresies of all time come out, and then some. Now we could deal with them.
Unfortunately, many are lost along the way.

YES. It was hijacked. This was documented in The Rhine Flows into the Tiber 40 years ago.

Don't know where it came from, but God, being Who He Is, knows how to turn all this to good. It's still going on today. I have changed my "prayer tactics" from "begging" to PRAISING. The Bible tells us the Lord inhabits the praises of His people. If I want Him to be with me and bring the utmost good out of any situation, I need to give Him the praise that is due Him.

Ralph McInerny wrote an essay some years back called
What Went Wrong With Vatican II?, in which he demonstrates how the pro-abortion factions in the Church opened the doors to abuses that we are still contending with. The book is short, and can be read at one sitting, but it is profoundly on target.

Was Vatican II Hijacked? Yes of course it was. Isn't that plain to see?

Don't Catholics believe that their doctrine is perfect even if their priests are not? God protects the church from error?

Don't Catholics believe that their doctrine is perfect even if their priests are not? God protects the church from error? Yes, the Church and Doctrine are protected from error. However, it is the wacky priests, etc..., who must live by that doctrine, teach it, and implement it, who sometimes go off in odd directions.

I’d say Vatican II was used as an excuse to hijack the seminaries. For decades, gay priests ordained in the 60s have been “forming” our young men and ejecting those who put up too much of an argument against homosexuality. The priesthood was a way for gay men to have a position of honor in their families without outing themselves.
However, I have great hopes that, as those old priests from the wacky 60’s die out, the seminarians of today may have true vocations. After all the scandals and low regard for priests, the young men who are accepting that vocation today probably do truly have a calling. It’s not the revered role it once was. It’s more of a servant’s role now— and that’s probably more what Christ had in mind.

I think you're right. Have you read
Goodbye, Good Men?
A good friend of mine was expelled from seminary back in the 70s for being 'intolerant' of homosexuals. He couldn't stand the constant bedhopping. Fortunately he didn't leave the Church.
The old queens are dying off and Rome has gotten serious about cleaning house of the last of them. Benedict XVI has appointed some very good bishops.
We had a take-no-prisoners Irishman in charge here, a couple of priests who thought it was o.k. to bother the altar boys found out that they had a lot more to fear from the Vicar-General than they did the forces of law and order (even though one of them went to prison). The former V-G is still around and he is a terror to evildoers everywhere. I'm pretty laid back and not afraid of too many folks, but my spine just automatically stiffens whenever he's around. I wouldn't want him mad at me!
