Could the *Rapture* happen with Solar Flares?
Vanity | Jan 5th, 2009 | TaraP

Posted on 06/05/2009 11:33:51 AM PDT by TaraP

Based on a Sermon given by Perry Stone.. On Jan 9th, 2009 Fox News-Powerful Solar Storm Could Shut Down U.S. for Months. A new study from the National Academy of Sciences outlines grim possibilities on Earth for a worst-case scenario solar storm.

Damage to power grids and other communications systems could be catastrophic, the scientists conclude, with effects leading to a potential loss of governmental control of the situation.

The Bible says Peace will be taken from the earth. Perry suggested this could be the trigger...If we have a worldwide electricity collapse, we would no longer be able to communicate with one another no phone, no internet, no television, that being the case how would anyone know a rapture occurred? would they care?

People would be in a panic and chaos would happen across the Globe...

Perry Stone believes the Tribulation started Fall of 2008.

What is your take on this?

"What is your take on this?"

Answer: "Perry Stone"

Question in the envelope: "Who qualifies as the biggest religious nut case today?"

At what point do Rapture-chasers stop speculating about every possible scenario that could tenuously fit their misguided misapprehension of 1 Thess. 4 and the verses that allegedly support their take on it? At what point will they do this and start helping the rest of us push back the nefarious forces that nearly encircle us already? A case can be made that there are so many otherwise sensible Christians asleep at the switch in the culture wars precisely because they are too distracted by prospects for the Rapture, or otherwise disinterested in helping right prevail because they figure to get their ticket out of here at any moment. This sort of thing brings about the very evils they see all around them.

It is not our job to foment disasters and lawlessness, especially when we foment them by default through our inaction and disinterest. We are stewards of the Lord's vineyard. The day will come when a generation arises fully embracing iniquity and ushering in the end. But, as Aragorn might say, "it is not this day!" We don't have to usher it in via neglect! It would seem that there are too many Christians who internally look with glee upon every bad thing that happens, because they figure that these are just "signs" that they won't have to "deal with" living here for much longer. God will hardly be pleased with such an attitude, I'm quite sure.

Let's leave the engineering jobs designed to bring about the end to the Shiites who want to bring back the Mahdi through worldwide chaos. ANd then let's do all in our power to thwart them! Shame on any Christian who seeks to do what boils-down to the same thing the crazy Shiites seek by letting chaos prevail, or worse, actively seeking its creation or continuance. We've got work to do here, now. Preferably with a better understanding of what the Rapture entails to begin with, but, barring that, at least spending more time with noses to the grindstone than with noses in the air, looking around in vain for any and all "signs."

Had this approach already been embraced, with the result that millions more Christians had been paying better attention, 0 wouldn't be the usurper-President, and any number of social ills wouldn't have gained enough traction over the last 30-40 years to ensure his placement in the office he claims to have. Let's wake up, people! God will come for His own in His own good time. We don't have to "help" him by default with our own sloth, greed and cowardice.

no one has that type of knowledge. Except our Creator.

God reveals His secrets to His saints (that's biblical). Revelation Knowledge.

Essentially we’re moving through the “equator” of the galaxy from the “north” to the “south” - imagine the galaxy like Saturn with its rings, we’d be moving from the high side of the rings, to the low side. I believe this corresponds to the Mayan Calendar, as well.

What is your take on this?

May God forgive the deluded simpleton for the harm he is doing God's beloved people, with his inane, asinine fortune-telling. How LONG, O Lord, will You permit the soothsayers to bring such open reproach upon Your Honor?

Do you think all Prechers are soothsayers?

I believe Prophecy is different than fortune telling, prediction and crystal balls...

The Book of Revelation would never be understoond, unless we do discuss it, in light of current events and scripture
IMO...

My take on this is that it’s complete malarkey, as is the “rapture” doctrine and Dispensationalism in general.

When Jesus Christ returns, it will be no secret. The time-space universe of flesh and atoms that clothes us will dissolve away like mist in sunlight and for the first time we will see Reality as it is. On that day every human being that has ever lived will be revealed for what he or she really is, and we will know that we are naked in the sight of God and our fellow man. There will be no place to hide from the all-pervasive Glory of Him that is Existence itself. Only those who have been reborn through the Most Precious Blood of Christ by their own free choice will withstand that all-consuming fire; the rest will char to ashes and be swept away to exist for eternity in the Hell of their own pride.

Instead of wondering if this is The End, let’s concern ourselves with being ready for The End whenever it comes. After all, the end can come for any of us at any time. It’s called death. THAT is the “end time” that we should be worried about, not some pie-in-the-sky Left-Behind bullshit.

He is no scientist and although I agree with him that we are approaching a sunspot minimum, he clearly has little personal knowledge of this event.

I did not take the time to analyze the data from the NASA report, but it did not look particularly alarming.

I have watched solar cycles for the past 35 years, and observe the effects daily. My background is that of an Amateur Radio Operator, but I also hold a commercial radio license. I understand RF.

No human understands clearly the physics of the engine that drives our Sun. I had several honest Physicist friends when I lived in NM. They either worked at the Labs or the Universities that supported the Labs.

Unfortunately science today is often more about funding than about discovering how things truly work.

Global Warming is pure bunk, and this alarmism is not much better.

Yes, we are technologically dependent to the point that a disaster could severely cripple the nation.

But this guy does not have a clue.

Always a good idea to NEVER try to predict the end of the world. Only the Father knows that. Our job is to tell the Good News until then.

God loves you, btw.

A super solar storm could cause a continent wide blackout lasting for months. During that time, our electronic financial and banking system would be frozen here in the USA. The ATMs wouldn’t work. Cash register drawers won’t open. Banks would be closed. People would have to revert to barter. After some months, when the power finally gets restored, it would be too late. Your bank account would be in an archive file somewhere, but it will be worthless and laughed at, because society will be bartering again the way it always did. It will be simple again. “You give me some beans, and I’ll give you some sugar.”
