Starting on the National Day of Prayer, May 7, 2009, Rev. John Corapi, S.O.L.T. and The Cardinal Newman Society (CNS) are leading a national prayer campaign for Catholic higher education and an end to the scandal caused by the University of Notre Dames decision to honor pro-abortion President Barack Obama at commencement on May 17, 2009.
The Cardinal Newman Societys work to renew Catholic higher education has been ongoing for 16 years, said Patrick J. Reilly, President of CNS. We encourage prayers from Catholics across the nation that the energy of protest will be directed to the larger task of reform and renewal of Catholic higher education.
Fr. Corapi is sending his video message calling for prayer around the Internet (and it's posted below).
Fr. John Corapi thanks the signers to the petition NotreDameScandal.com, who now number nearly 355,000. Fr. Corapi also urges Catholics to continue the fight for the renewal of Catholic campuses across the country.
In the video, Fr. Corapi says: Authentic Catholic identity needs to be restored in our Catholic universities and other institutions of learning. If it is restored our nation will be restored. If it is not restored, we will have much to answer for in the moral unraveling of a great nation.
The Catholic Church and its educational institutions must return to a position of strong and uncompromising moral leadership, integrity and credibility. If we stand for nothing, we begin to fall for everything.
If we chose prestige over principles and popularity over morality then we become part of the problem, not part of the solution.
Pray for the University of Notre Dame, its president, its board of directors, and its students.
~~Fr. Corapi on Notre Dame ........... PING!
Good for Fr. Corapi! And thank God for Pope Benedict because he has given conservative Catholic priests courage to speak out.
Good video!
"So whatever else is clear, it is clear that Notre Dame didn't understand what it means to be Catholic when they issued this invitation, and didn't anticipate the kind of uproar that would be consequent to the decision, at least not to the extent that it has happened.
Most Rev. Francis Cardinal George Archbishop of Chicago and USCCB President"

**Fr. Corapi scares me......**

The one who turns me into fear is Obortion Obama.
The truth IS scary ... LOL.
He scares me too, but I reckon I’m better off for it.

Well, since you signed that one, here's a different one: a Petition to Bishop John DArcy to rescind Notre Dame's right to call itself a catholic University (i.e., remove the University of Notre Dame from the Kenedy Directory, the official directory of Catholic organization in the United States.)
It's a matter of "Truth in Advertising," or, in other words, a way to prevent consumer fraud.
If you refuse to use Colonel Saunders' recipes, you shouldn't be allowed to call yourself KFC.
If you honor a man who requires citizens to turn over their money to fund the Baby Disposal Industry worldwide-- ignoring your own bishop and defying the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops --- you shouldn't be allowed to call yourself a Catholic University.
Simple as that.
By the way, there's nothing in the petition to suggest you have to be a Catholic to sign it. But if you're a little diffident about that, I suggest you take action by forwarding it to all your Catholic friends.
I plan to be there and would like to be with those who are FReepers.
No, I don’t have a list unfortunately, but where are you traveling from? Are you driving?
I live in Indy-outside of Indianapolis and will be driving up but need to go solo as I am on call everyday due to elderly parents. I have protested alone before, not a problem, but would love to hook up with FReepers there if possible.
Here are the groups that are doing prayers/protests on campus.
