From The Times April 8, 2009 Tony Blair tells the Pope: you're wrong on homosexuality
Ruth Gledhill, Religion Correspondent
Tony Blair has challenged the entrenched attitudes of the Pope on homosexuality, and argued that it is time for him to rethink his views.
Speaking to the gay magazine Attitude, the former Prime Minister, himself now a Roman Catholic, said that he wanted to urge religious figures everywhere to reinterpret their religious texts to see them as metaphorical, not literal, and suggested that in time this would make all religious groups accept gay people as equals.
Asked about the Popes stance, Mr Blair blamed generational differences and said: We need an attitude of mind where rethinking and the concept of evolving attitudes becomes part of the discipline with which you approach your religious faith.
The Pope, who is 82, remains firmly opposed to any relaxation of the Churchs traditional stance on homosexuality, contraception or any other area of human sexuality. He has described homosexuality as a tendency towards an intrinsic moral evil.

The Pope called Blair in and talked to him before he “converted,” but clearly this had no effect. Blair’s wife is a cradle Catholic and is completely left-wing, both politically and religiously, and obviously runs her husband.
Remember when ‘ol Tone came across as being ‘all Christian like’ right before the Iraq war? He’s just another ‘bottom tissue’.
And he’s campaigning to become the first “permanent president” of the EU ????
So metaphorically speaking homosexuality is an abomination, but not literally???? I am sorry Mr. Blair, but your logic fails.
He is...
...The Most Interesting Man In The World.
You gotta be kidding me.
His opinion on this matter has about the same gravitas as Paris Hiltons.
Even if you use Blairs logic that it was just a metaphor, it still means the Bible considers homosexuality wrong. His argument makes no logical sense. OK, it is a metaphor, does that mean it is a normal healthy righteous activity?
Don't insult Paris. She is more capable of putting together a logical argument.
Not a Catholic for a year yet and he thinks he can tell the Pope how to do his job??? What a cheeky bastard!
Ah I see that Tony Blair has been hanging out with Nancy Pelosi. Let’s just leave Catholic theology up to the Pope and other people in the Catholic church who actually now something abbout Catholicism.
I would listen to Benny Hill before I’d listen to Tony Blair.
Blair tells God ... you’re wrong ... and FUBO says so too
Very, very clever
If he were to commit heresy, the penalty (excommunication) would be latae sententiae, or automatic without sentence.
Clemenza to Tony Blair: Go push your own G-D broom and let the Pope do HIS job!
OK there Tony Linda Blair...if the Lord utters to you instead ‘thy will be done’ expect results that are not so bloody good ole bloke!

Ummmmm..... Tony.....
Neither God.... nor His Holy Word....
Are obligated to "evolve" to suit the demands of a perverse sub-culture and its adherents and advicates....
Ergo.... it follows...
That the messengers God has chosen and ordained to convey the Gospel in every culture and generation are called and GLADLY OBLIGATED to be faithful to the LORD, and proclaim the Word faithfully...
Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father...
There is no shadow of turning with Thee!
Perhaps the dynamnics should be reversed -- and the eternal truth becomes the basis for approaching the "attitude of mind" governing the culture.
Your eternal outcome will be more favorable - imho.
Gee, Tony...welcome to the flock and all but nobody asked for your opinion.
There was a recent study from Harvard which showed that people who use condoms are more prone to get AIDS than people who don’t, because the condoms give them a false sense of security and are more likely to promote promiscuous behavior - so the Pope was right on scientific and statistical grounds as well as religious ones.
