Old-Earth Creationism

by Henry Morris, Ph.D.

Many evangelical leaders today, unfortunately, have capitulated to the evolutionary timescale of modern unbelieving geologists and astronomers. They feel that they must somehow reinterpret the Genesis record of creation to allow for billions of prehistoric years, which the evolutionists must have in order to make cosmic evolution and biological evolution seem feasible. This compromise is necessary, they say, in order to win scientists and other intellectuals to the Lord...

People would be wise not to question the literal interpretation of our Bible.

Why? What are the consequences behind this threat? And who's that "our" in "our Bible"?

Amen to that! If the Lord wanted us to know more or how, He would have explained it in His Word!

So if something isn't in the Bible (like, say, powered flight, the germ theory of disease, nuclear fission and fusion, the computer you're using to post here, etc.,) we have no business learning anything about it?

Are you two advocating some kind of "Ignorance Theology" enforced by a threat of hell for daring to use the brain God gave you?

The theological positions around this place are starting to sound disturbingly reminiscent of "1984".

They agree the ice age occurred, they simply dissagree with the timing. They believe the ice age was a post flood event and a direct result of the ice age.

But if you believe “The science is settled”, “The debate is over”, “The scientific consensus is in”, just remember you have an excellent example right now in Global Warming of just how wrong and biased that consensus can be.

Please tell us how Oh wise one.

I will ask all you creationists to please tell us your science background so that we can explain things at a level you will understand.

Mine is a PhD in Molecular Biology.

Why don't you take a moment and point out for the benefit of the free world the "lies" and the "hoaxes" that are contained in the 228,000+ evolution-related articles contained in this NCBI archive. When you're done, you can move on to the rest of literature. You'll be famous.

"Why do you think God is unable to use evolution to make man?"

Why are you so enamoured with strawmen?

Why do you constantly dodge the real question in favor of faecetious dissemblance?

What are you hiding from? - Your fig leaf is wearing thin.

" DRUG RESISTANT PATHOGENS = Evolution in action"

The fallacy of affirming the consequent in all it's glory invoked once again.

"DRUG RESISTANT PATHOGENS = Evolution in action"

We've dealt with this absurd lie here too many times for you to be ignorant of the facts. - Drug resistance is nothing but temporary deformation of the population demographics of the pathogen. When the drug is discontinued, normal demographics are re-established, so obviously the nonresistant genetic information is retained in the surviving population.

This is obviously just a protection mechanism that God placed in a necessary organism (bacteria, including pathogenic species, consume waste, and thus are necessary for the survival of all life).

Do you have even the basic knowledge of the mechanism of drug resistance in bacteria?

Please explain it in detail for us ignorant masses.

While you are at it, also explain how some tumors become resistant to chemo.

"Is ours a young Earth created to seem old or an old Earth gone unseen except by a creator who declares what day and night are for his own purposes?"

The Earth seems old only to those that fail to closely observe day to day changes in the Earth. The most obvious example of this is storm-caused land slides. The frequency, and extent of these slides illustrates a very young Earth, since were the Earth more than 5000 - 6000 years old, all the soil necessary for agriculture would now be at the bottom of the oceans.

If you need more to sharpen your vision, search the term "small comets" and be prepared to be astonished; science, as science, rather than propaganda, proves the young Earth conclusively.

"I suppose plate techtonics is just another crapola theory too be ignored"

Plate tectonics prove the Genesis judgement, and the Young Earth conclusively.

My my, such anger and vile from a Christian, of which, I am one. I’d suggest you read a few actual texts on the subject.

I am neither ignorant nor a liar. Nor am I so shallow to limit the powers and intelligence of God to fit an easily disproved belief.

You still have not explained the acquisition of drug resistance; and the line “When the drug is discontinued, normal demographics are re-established...” is total bunk.

Ever head of MRSA? it is in the environment now, no drugs there to speak of.

Oh, by the way, where did you study medicine?

I see that you're to pound your chest in self agrandisement.

"explain how some tumors become resistant to chemo"

First prove that it is the tumor's resistance, rather than the destruction of the body's immune system due to the massive toxic attack that chemo obviously is.

Come on back in 20 or 30 years to let us know, ok?

Correction:

They believe the ice age was a post flood event and a direct result of the ice age flood.

Makes more sense now.

"Ever head of MRSA?"

It only continues because of the massive use of anti-bacterial soaps. MRSA was predicted by the FDA way back in the 1960s, and that was their reason for discontinuing the use of hexachlorophene in over the counter cleaners. Is that the best you can offer?

The Bible does not contain everything that Jesus Christ did or said, nor tell about everything of the other two persons of the Holy Trinity. St. John the Theologian wrote in his Gospel (John 21:25, NKJV):

25 And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.

The Bible itself also says that we need guides, the Apostles, to the interpretation of God’s word.

Acts, chapter 8 (NKJV) reads:

26 Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert. 27 So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, 28 was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. 29 Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.”
30 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.

That all said, be really careful whom you select as a guide to interpretation of Scripture, and even more so about those who claim they have new scriptures and more revelations from God.

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1, NKJV)

The levels of antibiotics in the environment are so low as to be non existent. They have absolutely NO effect on MRSA, yet the bug continues to thrive. As that the best yo can do?

I asked you a question. Where did you study medicine?

islander, the problem started with the rejection of reason by a brand of Christianity that is uniquely American. Bad doctrine ... that is at the root of much of this.

As people discover that the earth is 4 billion years old, God is not offended.

Recently deceased Harvard biology prof, Stephen Jay Gould ( no friend of creationism in ANY form, BTW), knew that the alleged “proof” wasn’t there, and much to the chagrin of his ivory-towered colleagues, he wasn’t afraid to say so in public.

He wrote:

“Paleontologists have paid an exorbitant price for Darwin’s argument. We fancy ourselves as the only true students of life’s history, yet to preserve our favored account of evolution by natural selection we view our data as so bad that we never see the process we profess to study.”

And when he went on record not long ago with this bit of candid information....

“The extreme rarity of transitional forms in the fossil record persists as the trade secret of paleontology. The evolutionary trees that adorn our textbooks have data only at the tips and nodes of their branches; the rest is inference, however reasonable, not the evidence of fossils.” ......you could hear the audible gasps coming from the hallowed biology/paleontology labs across the land. (There are certain “trade secrets”, after all, that simply should not be repeated in public!)

And when Gould stated that neo-Darwinism “...as a general proposition, is effectively dead, despite its persistence as textbook orthodoxy,” you could hear his colleagues, The Darwinian Council of Oz, saying to the general public: “Don’t pay any attention to that man behind the curtain!”
