You didnt ask, but there also is the sin of self-mutilation, inherent in vasectomy and tubal ligation.
I had my tubes clamped about 4years ago after my 4th child. At the time it seemed like the right thing, but I didn’t even seek God’s guidance or truth on the matter. I pretended like I did with a half hearted, insincere prayer, but I didn’t really. About a year or so after, I had to make things right in my heart towards God, knowing that I took matters into my own hands and was acting as god of my own life. Christianity is a matter of being willing to submit to the will of God in all matters. In all situations with others, I’m not sure how this plays out in the eyes of God, but in my case I know that I sinned clearly for the fact that I was not seeking His will, but my own.
A couple who engage in contraception wish to bypass the will of God in favor of their own will.
Here, I proved it.
By the same logic, if it is the will of God, then pregnancy will occur regardless of any attempts at contraception. So really, the validity of your argument still lies in the interpretation of God's will.
But you repented.
God bless you.
True. This is correct regarding any other sin: permissive will of God allows our own wicked will to be done and not His, for example, when a thief gets away with the stolen goods, a blasphemer utters blasphemies, a murderer strikes his victim, — or marital love is negated by a condom.
The first three can be proven by logic to any Christian who can read the Bible. The one about contraception relies on infallible interpretation.
A “beast” with two backs?
All four are proves from reason.
Only if you can reason that marital sex is solely for procreation, and that any other purpose or intent to defeat that purpose is sinful.
I simply observe that God did give us ways to enjoy sex during infertile periods as well as during fertile periods. That is the divine will regarding family planning. To not obey it is to sin.
That is the assertion.
That is the observation of how we are made by God.
Only if you start with the assumption that God's will is thwarted by technology. Rubbers and the pill can't thwart God.
See my 44. It is called permissive will of God, as distinct from his active will.
It’s disturbing Song of Songs is not referenced in this article.
Vaccination is taking infection out of God's hands and placing infection in the hands of man.
Electricity is taking illumination out of God's hands and placing illumination in the hands of man.
Dentistry is taking tooth decay out of God's hands and placing tooth decay in the hands of man.
Etc., etc., etc.
Contraception prevents life just like abortion
It is not the will of God that we suffer from disease; a physician therefore conforms to the will of God as he practices his profession.
Likewise an engineer makes something out of materials God provided to him, such as electricity.
But contraception is not making anything, it is preventing divine design of the human body to operate as intended by Him. In that sense, it is similar to abortion or any other form of murder, as stfassisi remarked, albeit it is not criminal.
The same can be said of celibacy.
The vow of celibacy involves no sexual activity, therefor it does not prevent life.
Mary and Joseph had a SEXLESS marriage.
