Pro-Life Dem Breakthroughs (Bad News for FOCA?)

Pro-Life Dem Breakthroughs

Let’s face it, there weren’t very many pro-life silver linings among the electoral clouds that formed Tuesday evening over America.

But here’s one: A record 31 Democratic Party pro-life candidates were elected to Congress.

According to Democrats for Life of America, five new Democratic pro-lifers were elected, joining 26 pro-life incumbents who were re-elected.

“This will be only the second time in 30 years that the number of pro-life Democrats increases instead of decreases,” Kristen Day, director of Democrats for Life of America, told Lifenews.com. “The first time we made gains was in 2006 due to the work of pro-life Democrats all over this country advocating on behalf of the pro-life cause.”

The first task confronting Congressional pro-lifers from both parties in the next Congress? Forging bipartisan alliances across the aisles of the Senate and the House of Representatives to prevent passage of the abortion lobby’s Freedom of Choice (FOCA) legislation.

Look for more detailed coverage about the political future of the pro-life movement, and about other key Election Day results, in the Register’s Nov. 16 print issue.

Well, I think this looks good in the battle against FOCA.

Maybe this will be an interesting website:

If we get many more “pro-lifers” like Casey Jr., things will only get worse. These types go squish on important matters.

They will fold when the leadership, in the persons of Nancy Pelousy and her henchmen, bring pressure to bear.

You want funding for your next campaign?

You want that pork for your district?

Oh, and we know where your kids go to school.

Better fall in line.

I agree. Throw them out and throw all the RINOs out too. Let’s get back to some real conservatives.

If Pelosi does this what they should do is hold a press conference and expose what she is doing to the American public. If more people would expose others even in their own party who are playing nasty, hard ball politics they would have to stop doing it. These people will have to decide either to fall into line with the death squad or stand up for life, their principles and above all their faith. They were elected by people who apparently elected them to be prolife. They need to take it to the people.

Pro Life Democrat is an OXYMORON!

ARCHBISHOP BURKE HAD SAID THAT THE DEMOCRAT PARTY IS THE THE PARTY OF DEATH!

Don’t expect any support from so called Pro Life Democrats!

I just e-mailed the person from my state. It will be vitally important to try to join together on this issue, because there is common ground already. We both reject Infanticide.

“It will be vitally important to try to join together on this issue”.

For sure!

I don't know anything about these Dems, I'm sure I'll learn more about all the pro-lifers in their party in the future.

They'll have to be brave.

When you write your congresscritter, be sure and point to them that FOCA wipes out all conscience-clause protection for nurses, doctors, pharmacists, and hospitals.

This has massive freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and "right of privacy" implications. (If there's a "right of privacy" that guarantees a woman's right to an abortion, isn't there also a "right of privacy" which guarantees a doctor's right to refuse to participate? What about the "right of privacy" of a woman who wants to patronize only pro-life OB/GYNs who don't kill babies? The SCOTUS said in Casey that everyone gets to make up their own mind about when human life begins; that doesn't mean the answer "at conception" gets to be marked "wrong" by the government.)

The ultimate intent here is to force Catholic and other pro-life doctors and hospitals to choose between going out of business, or compromising their principles and joining the culture of death.

“QUESTION: How many pro-life Dem. senators are there”?

This is the best I can do right now:

I don't know how current this info is I got it from this website Monday morning :

Jill Stanek —Pro-Life Pulse
http://www.jillstanek.com/

“Pro-lifers sustained 5 losses.
3 races are still open: Ted Stevens (R-AK), Norm Coleman (R-MN), and Saxby Chambliss (R-GA). All 3 are pro-life.

There are currently 39 pro-life senators. If all 3 of the aforementioned go on to win, there will be 42, meaning we will be filibuster-proof in the Senate.

So the prospect of Congress passing the Freedom of Choice Act is shaky, but pro-lifers must remain on guard for any movement whatsoever. Barack Obama has already promised he welcomes signing it”.
