Dear Heavenly Father, As the dark night turned into dawn and now into night again, many of us still have so many emotions swirling around in our minds that we need You to make sense of it all. Some are angry, and understandably so. Some are in despair. Some are in full grief mode. Others are resigned. And yet others are optimistic. Regardless what the emotion or what the point of view, I believe all reading this thread will agree something happened yesterday in America that will change it forever. Our prayer is that You will turn it all out for good.

Lord, I pray for our President-Elect, Barack Obama - that if possible, you will save his soul. His pastor, Jeremiah Wright said "what we both mean when we say 'I am a Christian' is not the same thing," and he was right. Anyone who studies the Black Liberation Theology that President-Elect Obama sat under for 20 years will know that it has a different Jesus, a different gospel, and a different way to salvation. It is not normative Christianity, and as we saw in some of Wright's sermons, it is devisive and wrong. Given this, President Elect Obama has come to a "Christ" who is the Jesus of the black man and seeks to free black people from white oppression. This is not Christianity as You put it forth in Scripture, and if this is the gospel Barack Obama believed in, he is not a Christian. Further, we take a look at his radical support for abortion and gay rights and we legitimately wonder how could a true Christian be as far off as he is. Infanticide and Christianity do not mix. So, we must conclude Lord, and operate under the assumption that he is not a saved man. In order that we might have peace in this land, and for his own sake and that of his family, we pray for his salvation. Do not let Satan control him. Rather, overcome Satan by Your Spirit and if it please You, save him and America with him.

If this is not in Your will, then we must assume that he is more like a Nebuchadnezzar, who will bring the land to judgment. This, we confess, we deserve - for our toleration of such evil for so many years. If that be Your will, we submit to that punishment, only remember our weak frames, that we are but dust and do not lay more upon Your people than they can bear.

Whatever it is that You are up to Lord. We pray that it will be for our good and Your glory. The time is short. The laborers are few. Help us to make our remaining time on earth pleasing to You.

For it is in the blessed name of Christ Jesus my Lord that I pray these things. Amen.

Well I for one disagree with Hannity this afternoon when he said he wishes 0bama well and that he be successful for the good of the nation. To me, that means he would be successful in putting into place all his socialist plans. I hope 0bama is a miserable failure and that in two years time his voter ilk is so pi$$ed at him that they want to see him impeached and dump their democRAT leaders that they are so enamored with now.

Thank you for this prayer. I am very proud of the Christians at free Republic. Remember, that Yeshua is NEVER DEFEATED AND THE ENEMY ALWAYS OVEREACHES HIMSELF. I belive he will judge us, but I also belive that he will send revival in the judgement. Remember, he is comming for his bride soon. Even so, Come Lord Yeshua!

celtic gal, remember your nation. If he fails, we fail. We do deserve it. No doubt. However, the damage will be long lasting. It is better, if possible, that his heart be changed that we live in peace. If not, God is still sovereign and has a plan for all of this.

How did you arrive at that conclusion? I want Obama to fail and we should do everything in our power to muck up the works and not allow this socialist to "succeed". Gridlock would be ideal under these circumstances.

I have a long prayer list and I can assure you Obama is not on it.

This is off-topic but I am convinced God himself intervened and elected Obama President. Of course we know God is sovereign and everything is done for His glory. However we don’t know what he miscromanages and what is allowed to happen via free will.

In this election there were just too many coincidences including a 99th hour mega-financial disaster. No one is as lucky as Obama. God elected Obama. Why? I have no idea. Perhaps to punish this sinful country. But I’m convinced that was His will. I am having a hard time accepting this though.

I will pray that God grants him wisdom. But until he shows wisdom I must do what I can to ensure his defeat. I do not want him to succeed. If he does then we will have "Approved" sermons in the churches and the church run school where I send my sons will be closed. I pray for Obama only in the way that Moses would pray for Pharaoh.

To begin with God will not prosper unrighteousness, with that said we as a people of God are to pray for those in authority that God would bless them and guide them.

The greatest blessing of God is salvation.

If you can not humble yourself and pray for those who would dispitefully use you, bless those who mean to bring you harm, them you are according to the bible a unworthy servant and a goat.

Pray with a clean heart and right spirit that God would use our new President to bring Him glory that God would soften his heart and use those around him for repentance especially his family, pray that God's will be done not what we think is His will or would like His will to be.

Your assumptions regarding my definition of success are wrong. If he passes all of those things, I would consider him an abysmal failure and judgment upon America. Success is defined by be a leader that is worth looking up to that follows God’s ways and speaks the truth. Does that help?
