Prayer and Litany to St. Martin de Porres, (2008)
To you St. Martin de Porres we prayerfully lift up our hearts filled with serene
confidence and devotion. Mindful of your unbounded and helpful charity to all
levels of society and also of your meekness and humility of heart, we offer our
petition to you, that the outcome of the US elections will be favorable to life,
families and true justice. Pour out upon our families the precious gifts of your
solicitous and generous intercession; show to the people of every race and
color the paths of unity and justice; implore from our Father in heaven the
coming of his kingdom, so that through mutual benevolence in God men may
increase the fruits of grace and merit the rewards of eternal life.
Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.

The Holy Family Chapter of Lay Dominicans in Portland, OR (of which I am a member)invites your
family to join ours in a novena to our Dominican brother, St. Martin de
Porres (Oct.26 — Nov.3).
The petition we bring before this wonderful saint is for an outcome to the US elections favorable to life, families and true justice.St. Martin was known for his profound devotion to the Eucharist, a devotion promoted in our times as a powerful reparation for the sin of abortion/infanticide.
Furthermore, his acts of true charity and humility fostered racial harmony in his community.
The contrast between St. Martin and Obama is profound. Both were born into mixed race families, both were abandoned by their fathers, both broke racial barriers. I believe that St. Martin will be an appropriate advocate on behalf of America and those most abused in our society, the unborn.
Faith sharing bump.

Wonderful information for all to ponder. Thank you.
Sister Mockingbyrd:
What is your name “in religion”? I’m Dominic Gabriel.
Going from “mad dawg” to “Dominicanis’ is not such a great leap, and I am eager to join with Gabriel is proclaiming that Mary is full of grace.
I’m headed out for a Third Order Dominican retreat up in Columbus, Ohio tomorrow - and I’ll be praying a LOT for this election during my (first ever) retreat since converting to the Catholic church 14 years ago.
I was planning to do a Novena to the Sacred Heart, but I might do this one, too! Extra prayers will not go amiss!
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, fountain of eternal life,
Your Heart is a glowing furnace of Love.
You are my refuge and my sanctuary.
O my adorable and loving Savior,
consume my heart with the burning fire with which Yours is aflamed.
Pour down on my soul those graces which flow from Your love.
Let my heart be united with Yours.
Let my will be conformed to Yours in all things.
May Your Will be the rule of all my desires and actions. Amen.

About Devotion To The Sacred Heart:The Story Of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque
In 1899 Pope Leo XIII approved this Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for public use. This litany is actually a synthesis of several other litanies dating back to the 17th century. Father Croiset composed a litany in 1691 from which 17 invocations were used by Venerable Anne Madeleine Remuzat when she composed her litany in 1718 at Marseille. She joined an additional 10 invocations to those of Father Croiset, for a total of 27 invocations. Six more invocations written by Sister Madeleine Joly of Dijon in 1686 were added by the Sacred Congregation for Rites when it was approved for public use in 1899. This makes a total of 33 invocations, one for each year of life of our Lord Jesus Christ. A partial indulgence is attached to this litany. You mean my Dominican name? Margaret Clithorow.
What's the etc. about? Somehow I don't feature myself saying, "And all that," in a prayer ...
Oh, wait. I get it. “Pray for us.” Yeah.
Continue with the “Pray for us.” But you already figured it out. Just gives me a chance to bump the thread.
Tonight the Prayer Bump of the day goes to the Litany of St. Martin de Porres (For an Election Novena - Oct.26 Nov.3),
Compare this wonderful black saint who helped so many with the black candidate.
May we all pray for votes for LIFE
