Shorter version

Prayer and Litany to St. Martin de Porres, (2008)

To you St. Martin de Porres we prayerfully lift up our hearts filled with serene
confidence and devotion. Mindful of your unbounded and helpful charity to all
levels of society and also of your meekness and humility of heart, we offer our
petition to you, that the outcome of the US elections will be favorable to life,
families and true justice. Pour out upon our families the precious gifts of your
solicitous and generous intercession; show to the people of every race and
color the paths of unity and justice; implore from our Father in heaven the
coming of his kingdom, so that through mutual benevolence in God men may
increase the fruits of grace and merit the rewards of eternal life.

Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.

St. Martin, lover of the Holy Eucharist, Pray for us
St. Martin, devoted to our Blessed Mother, Pray for us
St. Martin, spiritual patron of Americans, Pray for us
St. Martin, helper of souls in doubt and darkness, Pray for us
St. Martin, peacemaker in all discords, Pray for us
St. Martin, guardian of the homeless child, pray for us
St. Martin, symbol of interracial brotherhood, Pray for us

Let us pray: O God, the exalter of the humble, Who didst make St. Martin,
Thy confessor, to enter the heavenly Kingdom, grant through his merits
and intercession that we may follow the example of his humility on
earth as to deserve to be exalted with him in Heaven, through
Christ our Lord. Amen

Thanks Salvation.

The Holy Family Chapter of Lay Dominicans in Portland, OR (of which I am a member)invites your
family to join ours in a novena to our Dominican brother, St. Martin de
Porres (Oct.26 — Nov.3).
The petition we bring before this wonderful saint is for an outcome to the US elections favorable to life, families and true justice.St. Martin was known for his profound devotion to the Eucharist, a devotion promoted in our times as a powerful reparation for the sin of abortion/infanticide.
Furthermore, his acts of true charity and humility fostered racial harmony in his community.

The contrast between St. Martin and Obama is profound. Both were born into mixed race families, both were abandoned by their fathers, both broke racial barriers. I believe that St. Martin will be an appropriate advocate on behalf of America and those most abused in our society, the unborn.

I was planning to do a Novena to the Sacred Heart, but I might do this one, too! Extra prayers will not go amiss!

St. Martin, faithful servant of Christ, etc.

What's the etc. about? Somehow I don't feature myself saying, "And all that," in a prayer ...

We should also pray for the intersession of St. Gabriel Possenti, The Patron Saint of Handgunners. http://www.possentisociety.com/

With thanks to Coleus.
