Is Sarah Palin, the ardently pro-life Governor of Alaska, set to become the Republican Vice Presidential nominee?
This would present an opportunity for all those wanna be history makers to vote for something historic without handing the reigns to Barack Stalin Obama.
Palin is enormously popular in her home state and among conservatives of all stripes. She has only been governor for two years but that is more qualification than the dog catcher from Illinois has.
Is this potential veep pick a game changer? We shall see.
Stay tuned!
CMR wrote a story on the recent birth of Palin's fifth child called "Alaska Governor (And Possible Veep) Punished by Baby."
Update: From NRO "They say it's confirmed by high campaign officials"
Update Update Update: Laura Ingraham is reporting that the choice is Palin. CNBC is reporting the same. Stay on it!
Update Update: According to The Corner, Pat Buchanan on MSNBC just said "She Just Is Not Ready to Be Commander-in-Chief." That will surely be the MSM talking point on her...if it's her.
Also, I'm surfing all the news channels and they're all talking about this. Palin, Romney, Lieberman? McCain has done one thing very well. He's taken Barack Obama off the news the night after the biggest speech of his life. The men and women running McCain's camp seem to know what they're doing...unless the pick a pro-choice Veep and then I'll say they're as dumb as chickens.
Update: ABC is now reporting that Palin is still in Alaska. Who knows?
She has FIVE CHILDREN, one has Down's Syndrome, and she wears high heels to work. She is ready to run the world if she wants to be "Empress."
I beg to differ about her “inexperience.” She is governor of a major oil state and of necessity must know how the industry functions. Her government must negotiate with the oil men just as all oil states, her and abroad. From why I have heard, she has no illusions about “Big Oil.” And her record shows she has worked to get the best deal she can from them, and get more money distributed to the voters. This is opposed to the excess profits tax approach which would simply put more money into the general federal fund, to be spent on more pork.
Palin looks and acts like a “Texas woman.” the kind that used to fend off Comanches with a shotgun. Ironically, she reminds me of Ann Richards when Ann was in her late 20s. That was long before the white hair and the turkey-neck.
I am so totally into the Sarah Palin mystique. She’s just become my idol. I wish I had a son in the Army, but I’ve just got Anoreth, the Ann Coulter of the auto-tech department at Central Piedmont Community College. “Is that what you’re wearing to auto shop? They’ll be mopping up drool from the garage floor!” “It’s just cargo pants and a t-shirt, Mom!”
I don’t remember Ann Richards as a young woman, but I remember her as governor of Texas. I was working in the insurance industry in San Antonio, and the Insurance and Revenue Departments were a disaster her entire term. “Where are the tax forms?” “We’re revising them.” “Are we going to have them before the filing deadline?” “We don’t know.” “Are you going to extend the deadline?” “Don’t be silly.” “Can we use last year’s forms?” “We’ll fine you if you do.”
George W. Bush won my heart for life when he took over and cleaned up that mess.
I haunted FR and kept dropping her name, but was told that Romney, Cantor, Pawlenty, a stiff in a cemetery, were all better choices and that McCain would like to pick Lieberman. Still, I kept hoping. Then, the announcement was made today. I thought it would be Pawlenty but it was Sarah (sorry for the familiarity, but I feel I know her).
I have watched the MSM and at first it was funny at the shock and awe her choice produced. Then, it began to get under my skin watching blow hards like Bill O’Reilly made it worse. I was ready to kick in the TV but my mind settled.
There are few people who are likely to bring out the “broken glass” conservatives—those who'd crawl on broken glass to vote if necessary. One of my heroes is Clarence Thomas, a decent man, and an excellent jurist who may be overshadowed by the bombasity of Nino Scalia, but who still loves those nuns who gave him a chance.
Sarah Palin is “everywoman.” I realize Obama is an incredible story as he is the first man of color to be at the top of the ticket and that is admirable. He is also one of the angriest men I have ever seen. Turn off the sound and watch him speak. It is frankly frightening.
I have decided to continue to tune out the MSM which has its story of the year which deals with a man who made it to the Presidency and has vowed to reinstate Partial Birth Abortion—infanticide. I see that by his pick, McCain has made a huge gamble but the MSM better be careful. Dissing a mom with five kids is no different from dissing Hillary who is Pro Choice all the way. The stories are out already that the MSM and the Obama campaign regret their initial ferocious attack.
Don't misunderestimate this woman. Any woman who has five kids, a son going into the military, is not afraid to live in the wiles of Alaska and is ready to enter the spotlight in a way unimaginable is either insane or trusts in the Providence of God. I think the counterattack bespeaks the fear.
Go Sarah! Make them look foolish. I know you can do it.
Great rant, Frank! I’ve been rooting for Mrs. Palin since her name first surfaced on FR, although I also had a torch for Michael Steele, bless his heart.
This choice shows that there’s more to McCain than we might have figured. I made a donation to the campaign today (out of my wine money, sigh, and I’d already contributed to my state rep’s campaign this week, too!), and ordered my McCain-Palin bumper stickers for all three vehicles. I hope the Union County GOP will get yard signs in.
My Dad’s a Navy veteran of Vietnam - two full years - and he’s been behind McCain from the start. I’m glad to see his judgment vindicated - instinct over Alzheimer’s, as it were.
I’ve been reading Wretchard of the Belmont Club forever (especially with this Georgia-Russian thing). Here is his post of late. Start reading comments for August 29th.

Here is a Naval blog that is gaining a huge audience. He is a former Admiral judging by his credentials and his knowledge base. Check out his post before Labor Day. Palin features prominently.

He is right... The MSM won’t get it. The worm has turned, as they say...
Will look tomorrow, thanks. The Russia-Georgia thing is confusing, but I don’t let that bother me. Rrrod says Russia is the bad guy, so I’ll go with that, in the absence of personal experience.
Good night!
The Russia-Georgia thing is not in this article. It is about Obama and his history in Chicago. The thread picks up on the nomination of Palin and the euphoria.

Here is another great one. Be sure to check the Palin adversary “body count.” Nyuk.
Buchanan isn’t erudite — he may play one on TV, but he’s not as scholarly as everyone makes him out to be. To paraphrase Mark Twain, so much of what he thinks he knows just ain’t so.
Bump for both McCain and Palin today.
Great clothes!
Was a gopher for Ralph Yarborough—yes, I WAS a liberal Democrat—and met her several times. Smart and good looking woman in those days. Liked to smoke, I remember,(and drink, I heard) but that was when smoking was Bogey cool.
Great point about Obama’s anger. He is Malcolm X with the appearance of an Ivy league professor. Thank God he is not as smart as Malcolm X seemed to be. I recall the footage of him not long after he got out of jail and compared that of him two years later. The change was startling I saw the most intelligent guy I have ever seen in my life and two years later he had totally lost the appearance of the thing he had been, except for the anger.
Practically all adults smoked when I was growing up. There’s no question Ann Richards was smart and had style, but man was she a corrupt governor with an incompetent administration. May she rest in peace anyway.
Men who were abandoned by their fathers have a propensity to anger. It’s ironic that Obama wants to build a country full of fatherless men, as if we didn’t have too many already.
