The convention, which has taken place in Hartford for the last four years, is expected to draw more than 15,000 people by the time it winds down later today, said Muhammad Rahman, the convention's co-chairman.
He said most of those who have shown up this weekend are Muslims from the East Coast stretching from New England to the Carolinas, though many have traveled from Canada and Texas and other far-off points.
"It's become a very popular family event and that's what we intended," Rahman said. "We want to educate our young people about the true meaning of Islam, as well as help overcome a lot of misperceptions on the part of non-Muslims."

Just like we didn't use Nazi party members or communist party members when translating communications during war time. PC inclusions of the enemy MUSLIMs so as not to discriminate by religion in planning and communication is stupid at best. Taquiyya is a part of islam that allows a musi to lie about his beliefs if he feels he will be persecuted or not able to carry out his mission. there is no assimilation if it makes you disregard the koran. no one says they have to leave, but would you want a rattle snake sitting/living next to you.

I appreciate your reasoned and articulate reply. I am still learning and while I have a healthy fear and anger at Muslims, I still question how is that feeling compatible with the Muslims we are helping in Iraq and are helping us.
I believe there is a divide in Islam, and if the radicals rule, they will define Islam in the most fundamentalist way and the moderates will be killed with the infidels.
I do not consider my position to come from a PC perspective , however thinking that there are Muslims who may feel American identity as well.
When push comes to shove as a society or Ummah, The (I dont really do that) guys are going to be saying Yeah man what he said, Death to whoever. The religion give you 72 virgins if you die right and everyone important to you is behind the Imam chanting and dying. They have to want to change what their god says to the religion. We can only remove them from our society for our and your kids safety.
The American Identity has nothing to do with what they will do when the representative of their fathers, mothers, grand fathers etc. tells them to kill you the (non believer) for us.

“Jihad against America obligation of all Muslims”
Wali-ur-Rehman bases this on the Islamic principle that defensive jihad is fard ayn, incumbent upon every individual Muslim, if an Islamic land is invaded.

KHAR: It is incumbent on every Muslim across the world to fight alongside Afghan Muslims against America, Jaish-ul-Islami Pakistan (JIP) Bajaur Agency commander Wali-ur-Rehman said on Wednesday.
Rehman said it was not un-Islamic to go to Afghanistan for jihad and to defend Afghan Muslims in the war against the United States-led allied forces.
Addressing a press conference at an undisclosed location, he said jihad against the US and NATO forces would continue until they (allies) were driven out of Afghanistan.
He attributed the worsening law and order in Pakistan and its Tribal Areas to the flawed policies of President Pervez Musharraf, which had made Pakistan and its Tribal Areas prone to the US-led allied forces’ attacks. He said that America was the major terrorist in the world and the biggest enemy of Islam and Pakistan.
Spies: Rehman said those spying for America would be strictly punished and would be publicly hanged to teach others a lesson.
He said one of the spies arrested following the bombing of a Damadola madrassa in May by the US, had been beheaded. He said the JIP had sentenced him to death under the Islamic laws....

Just here to help and the reason im not a liberal is I always triple check my sources and rarely trust my memory
That is why there have been so few attacks in the US, and most of the wanna be jihadis are picked up...because they community isn't backing them.
