Italy's favourite saint was a fraud believed former pope

Pope John XXIII believed Padre Pio, the hugely popular Capuchin monk who was canonised in 2002, was a fraud who had "incorrect" relations with women and whose soul was in danger....

Sergio Luzzatto...has also found documents in the Vatican archives suggesting that Padre Pio may have faked his stigmata, the marks of the wounds of Christ, with acid. Vatican officials say both allegations are already well known....

Followers of Padre Pio believe he exuded "the odour of sanctity", had the gift of bilocation (being in two places at once), healed the sick and could prophesy the future.

>>I was giving you the benefit of the doubt.<<

No need to bother your pretty little head with doubt. Rest assured that if a poster is doing nothing but stirring up the pot of slamming a person’s relgious beliefs, I will not grace them with answering his/her claims.

However, I will laugh and have a good time with it for a while.
Laugh and the world laughs with you, you know how the rest goes.

Wasn’t that right after he parted the Red Sea?

No religion or denomination is of God’s creation. All works of the flesh will burn. His elect will be saved.

What does sanctity smell like?

The acid you use to burn the stigmata marks on your body.

I guess you were unaware of the FACT that Rome burned in 64 AD and this was probably the catalyst for Saint Peter’s crucifixion there. And I might also point out that 2 Peter 3:7 makes NO MENTION of Rome, is this simply wishful thinking on your part? Were you unaware that the Vatican IS NOT part of Rome?

“Just out of curiousity, why would Protestants care whether a man they believe is a fraud (that would include ALL popes) thinks someone else might be a fraud?”

Because they are insecure in their 10,000 interpretations of the Bible, and their 10,000 denominations and their 1,000,000 splits and schisms. Notice the systemic policy of the Presbyterians to allow clergy to not even be gay but now have gay sex outwardly. Soon, there will be about 100 churches in that split that keep God’s law.

No religion or denomination is of God’s creation.

Only Protestants believe in denominations. The Lord founded His Church, the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, on Saint Peter's confession. His Church continues to this day. You have CHOSEN to separate yourself from His Church.

His elect will be saved.

Thus spaketh Calvin.

Quite true. They really have no idea what they believe and they are faced with the inconvenient FACT that if “sola scriptura” was legitimate ALL Protestants would be Lutherans. Their theology is based on the inane assumption that the Holy Spirit correctly allows their own sect to interpret Scripture while tricking each of the other thousands of sects.

The very thought that God would deliberately be truthful to one group while lying to thousands of others is so unbelievably cruel that only a masochist would subscribe to it.

I never believed in any of the Padre Pio nonsense. Pretty easy, since I’m not a Catholic. I will grant that certain saints in the past may have exhibited true stigmata or manifested other miraculous signs, or performed other miraculous deeds, but I’ve always believed that Padre Pio was a fraud.

So you’re saying that Padre Pio was into self-mutilation? Ever heard of the sin of calumny?

So true. Then they are lulled into finding select pieces os Scripture that support them while ignoring those that don’t. Not to mention that sola scriptura isn’t even supported by the Bible itself. That’s gotta be hard to wrap your head around, dodging the truth continually.

Surely you can’t be so dense as to equate analogy with identity. The issue here is an accusation of fraud. Both Jesus and Padre Pio were thus accused. Clearly, as a Christian, I make no equation of the two personages, I merely point out their similar circumstances of false accusation by unthinking mobs. Use your brains.

Not only is it not mentioned, it is specifically warned against:

15 And account the longsuffering of our Lord, salvation; as also our most dear brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, hath written to you:

16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are certain things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction. 17 You therefore, brethren, knowing these things before, take heed, lest being led aside by the error of the unwise, you fall from your own steadfastness.
-- 2 Peter 3:15-17
