Pope John XXIII believed Padre Pio, the hugely popular Capuchin monk who was canonised in 2002, was a fraud who had "incorrect" relations with women and whose soul was in danger....
Sergio Luzzatto...has also found documents in the Vatican archives suggesting that Padre Pio may have faked his stigmata, the marks of the wounds of Christ, with acid. Vatican officials say both allegations are already well known....
Followers of Padre Pio believe he exuded "the odour of sanctity", had the gift of bilocation (being in two places at once), healed the sick and could prophesy the future.

I would say right before he left the One, Holy, Apostolic and Catholic Church. About the time he began to despair and discount the power of God to straighten out the Church and think that he, himself could/would do it.

I bet those “elect” have already chosen themselves and know who they are.

I can't wait to grab this from the check out counter!
You could go to our Lord Himself:
Jesus used narcotics!
Jesus can't swim!
Ok, I stole that one from the Bush joke. Clever and humerous post you have there!

That’s what I don’t get, Scripture alone, unsupported by Scripture alone. It is just plain unbelieveable and nonsensical.

1 John was written so the elect would be able to know they are saved. Read the Bible - it clearly states that God has chosen the elect. But perhaps you’re more interested in what the men in Rome say than what the Lord God in Heaven has said.

“Why did you choose to post that specific news story on this particular day?”
Because there was not enough condescension on FR today and some people thrive on it to elevate their arrogance hormone and make themselves feel superior?

I just read through the First Epistle of John, and I did not get the impression that he is writing about predestination. I got the impression he is teaching the basics of the faith to a group of faithful, those who had been baptized into the Body of Christ, and denouncing Gnostic teachings that said Jesus never came in flesh and other heresies.

That there was an intelligent reply. Maybe you could find a website for an answer.

So do you think that conformity of belief is somehow wrong? I seem to remember Jesus saying that we would all be one...but maybe you read that differently.

Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son: that whosoever believeth in him may not perish, but may have life everlasting.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world, to judge the world: but that the world may be saved by him.

Works for me!
You know, once something has a label, it gets research funding.
Want to split it with me?
There are many test subjects here. Writing up the grant would be cake!
