” it should be able to stand up to any tirade that is given against it.”
Make it ecumenical if we are to discuss the Catechism. There is one thread that is over 4500 posts reiterating the same blather over and over and over. I’d like to discuss and learn without the usual suspects repeating their talking points ad infinitum.
I think the entire world (hyperbole alert) is aware of some of the more strident gabble reposted and reposted and reposted constantly that precludes any and all discussion.
Interested Catholic.
“My inclination, as with other things, would be to make these discussions [OPEN] threads (as per the RM guidance on the subject).”
It’s difficult to have deep discussions of theological topics once the anti-Catholics show up. Their... “input” - such as it is - tends to keep the discussions trivial and shallow. As well, the vain repetitions of anti-Catholic mantras make it difficult to move through threads, as often, one must scroll through many screenfuls of sewage before finding the lone, occasional nugget of worthwhile posting.
The difficulty is that the forum’s rules permit bad posting to drive out good, and for “Open” threads to essentially turn into “Open Sewer” threads.
Only if we can ban about 15 posters, just kidding...sort of.
It seems to me you rather enjoy the Catholic bashing posts because you post so many open threads. I am beginning to think you thrive on them, just like the usual suspects who constantly berate and mock the Pope, Blessed Virgin, and the Euchrist. What good becomes of them?
I think it’s an interesting idea, but I wouldn’t have the time to participate in a productive way.

I’m interested, I’d hope to take part, and I recommend ecumenical.
I am interested. I would like to discuss and debate, in a friendly and civil matter, the teachings of the Church.
Also, it would be like a study class of the catcheism.
the best way to debate the evangelicals about Catholicism is to actually know what Catholicism actually teaches.
With all the remarks from fellow Catholics, it would seen that an Ecumenical thread would be a better choice than an OPEN thread.
On an Ecumenical thread, people can offer the points they disagree with in a congeinial manner, but they may NOT disparage another religion or be antagonistic in their remarks.
Thoughts from all????

Please include this Catholic!
it is perfumed.
I would be very interested in such a thread, especially as it presents us an opportunity to integrate Catholic teaching with our daily lives. Our Catechism is truly inspirational—this is a very exciting idea! (Make it ecumenical, though, please.)
Count me in.
Ping me, thanks. Will post more tomorrow to you.
I’m very interested, with reservations.
Just my opinion: ecumenic threads, as opposed to open threads, would be better.
Frankly, I’m pretty sick of the juvenile, strident, petty judgmental, legalistic protestant contingent. This would be a real test of the ecumenic format and rules, though...I suspect the threads would be spammed with countless TOPIOS discussion and high-fiving. No rules can force the immature to behave, when they think they have duty to disparage and disrupt.

Please ping me to note-worthy Pro-Life or Catholic threads, or other threads of interest.
Mark - please add me. Unless I hear otherwise I will ping this list whenever you ask.
It’s a good idear for a thread series. I don’t see how anyone can be miffed at the possable ecumenical designation. As long as folks can declare what their own faith teaches about whatever particular subject from the Catechism the thread is expounding on, why should they care?
It’s on them if they can’t get their ideas over without relying on attacking another faith.
