What good becomes of them?

Fair enough question. The reason why I do OPEN threads, for the most part, is twofold:

I actually believe that if we are going to post topics of a theological or apologetics nature, that those threads should be able to stand up to scrutiny and attack. St. Paul did not shy away from open discussion. St. Justin (Martyr) did not shy away. Nor did St. Irenaeus, St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, nor any other of the greats. Our Faith, if it is the Genuine Faith, should be able to stand up to whatever level of derision or calumny that the Devil can pile against it. The Gates of Hell will not prevail against Christ's Church. If you truly believe that, then we shouldn't shutter ourselves against attack by hiding in some locked, windowless room (i.e., a Caucus thread), we should be out boldly proclaiming the Truth to all!
Secondly, I believe that it is important to reveal the true character of the souls involved. Derision, detraction, calumny reveal the true character of the souls who post such things. It already exists in their hearts. It needs to be laid bare for all to see.

So what's the result: I ask, how many well-informed Catholic FReepers have renounced Catholicism as the result of the bashers here? I can't frankly think of any. How many former Protestant FReepers have swam the Tiber...partially as a result of the beauty of the Faith posted here? I can think of a few.

Their criticism is like air...unless you let them get under your skin.
