Unmasking the Pope and the Catholic System (Open)
Grace To You ^ | Exact date unknown | John F. MacArthur

Posted on 05/17/2008 6:30:09 PM PDT by e.Shubee

John F. MacArthur is no ordinary evangelical. I think that there is something special about him because of the unusual excellence of his book  The Gospel According to Jesus. I consider that book to be the finest exposition on the gospel ever written.

The most surprising thing about John MacArthur is his wide acceptance, given that he believes in the true gospel and takes a strong stand on the historic Protestant understanding of Roman Catholicism. Consider his protestant message, Unmasking the Pope and the Catholic System, delivered shortly after the death of Pope John Paul II, and see if you can either respect or refute his statements.

I disrespect them — just a hunch. Haven’t read it. Don’t plan to.

Pro-LDS and anti-Catholic threads abound in breaking news.

I’m detecting a pattern here...

Go to www.exmormon.org and search Catholic Church.

Not only for truly hateful things said about Catholics by Mormon General Authorities, but for just how many ex-Mormons turn to atheism in order to escape their false controlling cult.

I'm sure you guys have all had appropriate gun training and know how to keep 'em holstered during tense confrontations over religion.

Or, you'all could "come over to the Dark Side" eh?!

Another commendation that I can think of for John MacArthur is Proverbs 15:2 (New American Standard Bible): “The tongue of the wise makes knowledge acceptable.”

I certainly don’t agree with everything that MacArthur teaches (his view of eschatology is totally flawed, I believe) but I consider him wise enough to benefit from an informed debate and clear and articulate differences of opinion. In that sense, I believe that he is also worthy of the characterization found in Proverbs 27:17: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

As I have said previously, I have been greatly blessed by his Biblical exposition in the book, The Gospel According to Jesus.

I listened to the audio link. McArthur merely stated the historical facts - of which, most Protestants nowadays have forgotten. Here is what McArthur said about the reign of “Bloody Mary:”

Seven years after Luther’s death, the reign of bloody Mary began in England, 1553 - 1558. Mary restored the Pope’s authority in England.

Immediately, all Bibles were removed from the churches. All Bible printing ceased and was forbidden, it became a capital crime.

800 English ministers fled to Geneva, 300 Protestants were burned at the stake.

Her first martyr was the man who translated the Tyndale Bible, John Rogers, a London minister

This has nothing to do with politics in the USA. This is not a forum to discuss religion. I'm not catholic, don’t like the pope; but crap like this has no place here.

There were people who tried to prevent the popularization of ancient texts with modern cheap printing.

They lost the battle and here we are reading pixels on a screen.

Death to the Luddites and their running dog lackeys~!

By the way, is Lyndon [LaRouche] running this year?

Yes, under the pseudonym Ron Paul.

I think they envision saving the souls of Catholics single-handedly.

They provide food to fuel the hate of those who are already bigots.

What really happens is that Catholics really study their religion and become more Catholic than ever.

So you could say they work for the pope for free!
