>>I think the RCC doctrines are a product of the enemy<<
Please tell us where we stand here. Examples welcome, but I'm not sure that actual names can be used when quoting another FReeper, so date and thread title may be better.
Addition of "et filioque" to the Nicene creed ....... 1054 AD
At least that many of your personal beliefs are ill-informed and ignorant (in the classic sense).
Again, other than a small minority of the Anabaptists--the fringe groups of the Reformation, none of the Protestant Reformers believed that, and nor do the great majority of grateful Protestant Christians up to the present day.
Mainstream Protestants have never claimed membership in their bodies was a requirement for salvation, personal faith in Christ is...whereas, as evidenced here: "You are hell bound, generally speaking, yes, by the fact of your being separated brethren." (written above by a traditional RC), mainstream Romanists do.
Protestants with an understanding of the invisible Church, headed up only by Jesus Himself, are far more CATHOLIC (or universal, the meaning of the word) in their beliefs on who is a Christian, than the Church of Rome has ever been.
The Samaritan, Levite and Priests were all offspring of the House of Judah. The Samaritan was considered a heretic to the Jewish faith who did not follow every doctrine and dogma to the jot or tittle as the Jews. Whereas the Levite and the Priest were considered to be those who followed the Letter of the Law, the Torah. These holy people would more than likely get an unpleasant suprise when they faced judgement whereas the Samaritan received eternal life because his actions proved his closeness to God more than those who professed to keep the law perfectly. Herein is the admonishment to legalism by our Lord which contradicts against the teachings of God’s grace and mercy. This also aligns well with Jesus’ condemnation of the Pharissees in Matthew 23. This was the subject of the Gospel taught by a Catholic priest in my church the day after the Pope called other faiths defective. The epistle of John verifies this further.
I John 4:7-21
7 Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9Gods love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Saviour of the world. 15God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God. 16So we have known and believe the love that God has for us.
God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. 17Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the day of judgement, because as he is, so are we in this world.
18There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love. 19We love* because he first loved us. 20Those who say, I love God, and hate their brothers or sisters,* are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister* whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. 21The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters* also
Do you believe the Catholic Church has the power to do this?
Do you believe the Catholic Church has the power to send you to hell?
Your question can't be answered fairly since you didn't say 'all' Catholics or 'some' Catholics...
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Salvation for people in the Church Age is free...Paul says that if you don't think it's free, you consider it to be a debt...A debt you can never pay...
If you think you can do something to earn salvation, then go right ahead...But you will then be judged by your works...But you will never make it...
So that's called the Gospel of Grace by the Apostle Paul...
Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
And that Gospel of Grace is:
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Your church does not teach Eph. 2:9 as the necessary Gospel for Salvation...Your church teaches that Jesus' death on the Cross was not enough for your salvation...
And by believing that and teaching that, your popes will end up at the Great White Throne judgment talked about in Revelation...And they will be cast into outer darkness...No one is righteous enough...Not one of us...
So it's not a matter of whether Catholics are Christians...It's a matter of 'anyone' being a Christian...The question is, what are you trusting to get to heaven??? Are you trusting Jesus, or are you trusting yourself and your own good works...If you are trusting Jesus ONLY, you are a Christian...

Your post pulls text from paragraph 460 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, but strips the quotation marks therein.
The text you posted is made entirely of direct quotes from St. Athanasius and St. Thomas Aquinas.
80 St. Athanasius, De inc. 54, 3: PG 25, 192B.
81 St. Thomas Aquinas, Opusc. 57, 1-4.
Note this passage: And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:29)
Simply put, "damnation" is not a degree of "glory" or "heaven" in any way shape or form. There is a resurrection of damnation, and when you look at the original Greek it means "judgment" and "condemnation." (It doesn't mean "stopped up" like Joseph Smith said it did).
Don't keep us guessing...what is your definition of a Christian?
A Christian is one who...
...knows the only true Jesus, and His Father who sent Him (John 17:3)...and this is a relational knowledge that includes praying directly to Him and worshipping Him wholly, not just "head" knowledge in knowing "about" Him...
...is filled with the energy of the Holy Ghost, represented by the symbol of "oil" in Matthew 25:1-12...
...has received the gift of faith in Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 6:23) as a substitute covering for his/her own sins, which Paul commonly references as being "in Christ"...
...and is not trusting in his/her own good works to save him. A Christian is one who is saved by grace before all he/she can do--not after.
[if you read John 3, John 5, John 6, and 1 John 5 carefully, you'll note that eternal life is a present tense gift and relationship with Jesus, not a spiritual school grade assigned in the afterlife].
It's a great idea for a thread. The few haters outed themselves and the rest of us get along just fine.
To anathemize someone is a work of love. It is for the heretic’s benefit that he be warned of the mortal peril in which he puts his soul. God called us to love not just all Christians, Protestant or not, but also our enemies. This is the point of the Samaritan story. But it also teaches something else: that not what you think or know, but what you do, that matters to God. The priest and the levite may have had all the right doctrines, it is what they failed to do that condemned them. This parable shatters the Protestant error of “by faith alone” to pieces.
Faith is what you do.
If you call someone a heretic who is doing the right thing then you are guilty of being a false witness and a hypocrite.
Im genuinely asking because I never see people do it on the Jewish threads.
Well thanks! I always wondered.
HUH?
Some are, but it’s in spite of Rome, no because of it.
“The priest and the levite may have had all the right doctrines, it is what they failed to do that condemned them.”
They were hypocrites.
“This parable shatters the Protestant error of by faith alone to pieces.”
No it doesn’t if they are living their life right before God. If you think that then you are as guilty as the Levite and Priest.
I can’t believe that these religion battles are continuing on FreeRepublic. It reminds me of when I was a child and the Catholic neighbors would tell me that I was illegitimate because my parents were not married in the Catholic Church, and I’m not even going to get into what the protestant kids answered back because it is all childish.
Ill let my Italian relatives know about that.”
She’s gonna get some concrete boots?
