"At that time Jesus said to the multitudes of the Jews: 'Which of you shall convince me of sin? If I say the truth to you, why do you not believe me? He that is of God, heareth the words of God. Therefore you hear them not, because you are not of God.' The Jews therefore answered, and said to him: Do not we say well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? Jesus answered: 'I have not a devil: but I honour my Father, and you have dishonoured me. But I seek not my own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth. Amen, amen I say to you: If any man keep my word, he shall not see death for ever.' The Jews therefore said: Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest: If any man keep my word, he shall not taste death for ever. Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead. Whom dost thou make thyself? Jesus answered: 'If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father that glorifieth me, of whom you say that he is your God. And you have not known him, but I know him. And if I shall say that I know him not, I shall be like to you, a liar. But I do know him, and do keep his word. Abraham your father rejoiced that he might see my day: he saw it, and was glad.' The Jews therefore said to him: Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said to them: 'Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am.' They took up stones therefore to cast at him. But Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple."
The law showed us how to live. God, in the person of Jesus Christ, saved all how call upon his name from the penalty of the law.
On this rudimentary subject, ggg, you are as well-received as the prophets of the Lord.
Prophets of Baal: 450
Prophets of the groves: 400
Elijah: 1
Fire from heaven: priceless
Anyone can decalre themselves a prophet ... or anyone else ...
But where is the fire from heaven ?
Jesus rose from the dead because He is God.
Q.E.D.
Take your Christian-hating trolling elsewhere.
Is this statement in the other tree Gospels?
Jesus said to them: 'Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am.'
Is this statement in the other tree Gospels?
No ... all of the gospels contains some unique citations ... as is to be expected from four witnesses.
OTOH ... this statement is from Micah.Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Jesus said after the resurrection "all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth". who gave him that power?
Jesus told the young man who said "good master" "Why call you me good? there is none good except the Father in Heaven."
Jesus said he could do nothing of himself.
Jesus prayed to the Father to take the cup of the crucifixion from him if it were possible.
Jesus said he could pray to his Father and he would send legions of angels.
Jesus is the Son of God the Father. On this earth Jesus walked as a man like you or me except he always did the Fathers will and walked in the power of the Gospel, which is why he is an example for us. The things Jesus did we should be doing and more because he went to the Father. The problem for us is that Jesus was obedient to the Father and had perfect communication with him. We still follow the Law of Moses and wish to be judged by it instead of living by the law of faith in the death burial and resurrection of the Lord of the warfare Jesus Christ.
Yes, but shouldn't the most important statements be in all four or at least a majority, rather than one?
“Yes, but shouldn’t the most important statements be in all four or at least a majority, rather than one?”
They were all written to different audiences.
It is not to late for you personally to accept the truth that many Jewish leaders rejected almost 2,000 years.
Jesus came to pay for the sins of the entire world. We are all sinners (because we are human). God demands a price for sin, that price was paid, all we need to do is acknowledge that truth.
The early church was founded by many Jewish converts. They saw what Jesus had done with their own eyes.
Read a New Testament with an open mind and you will see the truth.
Or read online: http://www.biblegateway.com/
I think that's well accepted by scholars, but which audience gets into heaven? After all some who place the most emphasis on John believe you'll fry in hell for eternity if you don't accept it 100% without question.
Of course.
The Godhead is composed of three Persons - Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
So many heresies, so little time. ;-)
He still lives. He sits today at the right hand of the Father, a very real living Jewish human who is God the Son.
So who do you say Jesus was?
And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;- Daniel 9:26a
Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great,In particular, read Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22.
And He shall divide the spoil with the strong,
Because He poured out His soul unto death,
And He was numbered with the transgressors,
And He bore the sin of many,
And made intercession for the transgressors.- Isaiah 53:12
Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.- 1 John 2:22-23
You sound like a Pharisee on the one hand, and a Saducee on the other. Just saying....
That is certainly what tradition teaches, but the bible does not teach and early Christians did not have a conception that the holy spirit was a separate person in the Godhead.
Jesus Christ considered Him a separate person of the Godhead. That's sufficient testimony for myself.
