Childish behavior |
Posted on 02/22/2008 9:11:12 AM PST by Zakeet
They're called the "Lost Boys," the teenagers kicked out of their homes and communities by leaders of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to ensure there's an ample supply of single, young women who will one day become plural wives. Representative Lorie Fowlke (R-Orem), is running a bill to make this abandonment a felony.
"Estimates are that we've had more than 1,000 children - primarily in southern Utah - thrown out of their homes," Fowlke says. "What we were trying to do with this bill is criminalize this behavior and send a message to this community that they can't just throw away their children."
H.B. 23 adds child abandonment to the definition of child abuse, and makes it a felony crime. It also adds an enhancement if a parent or organization benefits from the child's abandonment to further an illegal enterprise, such as polygamy. This is the case with the FLDS church, says Roger Hoole, a lawyer who represents some of the displaced young men and sits on the board for the Utah Association for Justice. He says the church benefits from kicking out young men who would compete for plural wives. This, he says, has devastating consequences.
"There's a huge impact that's coming, like a tsunami, that's going to hit the state of Utah, when these boys get a little older and realize what has happened to them and get angry," Hoole says. "There's a real problem here."
Fowlke's bill gained unanimous support in a Senate committee this morning, and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.
What is salvation and how do we obtain it?
You won’t answer this simple question , either, lady lawyer?
Why won’t the Mormons on this thread answer this question?
+++++++++
May I respond?
Jesus took unto Himself all the sins of the world, and because of that, after we die, we will all be resurrected into Heaven.
The main reason is the priesthood of God, and line of authority. It’s the same reason other Christian church baptisms and ordinances are not considered valid within the LDS church.
Here’s something from LDS.org that may help you to understand it.
Priesthood Keys
The exercise of priesthood authority in the Church is governed by those who hold priesthood keys (see D&C 65:2; 124:123). Those who hold priesthood keys have the right to preside over and direct the Church within a jurisdiction. For example, a bishop holds priesthood keys that enable him to preside in his ward. Therefore, when a child in that ward is prepared to be baptized, the person baptizing the child must receive authorization from the bishop.
Jesus Christ holds all the keys of the priesthood. He has given His Apostles the keys that are necessary for governing His Church. Only the senior Apostle, the President of the Church, may use (or authorize another person to use) these keys for governing the entire Church (see D&C 43:14; 81:2; 132:7).
The President of the Church delegates priesthood keys to other priesthood leaders so they can preside in their areas of responsibility. Priesthood keys are bestowed on presidents of temples, missions, stakes, and districts; bishops; branch presidents; and quorum presidents. A person who serves in one of these positions holds the keys only until he is released. Counselors do not receive keys, but they do receive authority and responsibility by calling and assignment.
Exercising the Priesthood Righteously
Priesthood holders must remember that the priesthood should be a part of them at all times and in all circumstances. It is not like a cloak that can be put on and taken off at will. Any ordination to a priesthood office is a call to lifelong service, with the promise that the Lord will qualify priesthood holders to do His work according to their faithfulness.
Priesthood holders must be worthy in order to receive and exercise priesthood power. The words they speak and their everyday behavior affect their ability to serve. Their behavior in public must be above reproach. Their behavior in private is even more important. Through the Prophet Joseph Smith, the Lord declared that “the rights of the priesthood are inseparably connected with the powers of heaven, and that the powers of heaven cannot be controlled nor handled only upon the principles of righteousness” (D&C 121:36).
In short MHGinTN, the offshoot groups have rejected the valid line of authority of the LDS church. They take upon themselves the rights of the priesthood, which no man should, and they deny the Apostolic calling of those of the LDS church, the reality of temple worship, and the ordinance of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. You asked, I don't expect you to agree, nor do I intend to argue. Cheers.
You surely are quite obsessed with me...its funny...
At least you have humor!:)
You will save yourself a lot of wear and tear if you stop preaching at me, because frankly, I am not interested in what you have to say, slanted by your own viewpoint...
It really is just that simple...

Since the N T says there will be true teachers and true Prophets, where are they?
=+=+=
Does answering that question somehow give credibility to Joseph Smith, who is not?
+++++++++
If, as you say that this Church is not guided by God through his Prophets, I need to find His true Prophets.
Do you know of any?
I already did see your post...as I said, you are obsessed with me, and it is funny...
I hope that foregiveness, grace and mercy will pervail in your situation...so that you can attend a good Bible-believing church and have the edifying experience of Christian fellowship that is so necessary in our Christian walk.
I am glad that my tone and manner came through as kind...
It has been somewhat misconstrued on this thread.
I have no idea.
=+=+=
Which Mormon church has it correct? Why should we accept that the one you claim is more right than the one which is topic of this thread?
++++++++++++
not an answer for the question;;;;;;;
again;;Which Christian Church has it right?
=+=+
You are as handy as a broken record. Have a nice evening with your dissembling games.

+++++++++++++
Why will you good christian folks not tell me which Christian Church really has it right by your thoughts.
And please, no more of the lists of churches that have conflicting teachings. Just the one right church by your beliefs.
Tell that to Apostle Bruce McConkie, he wrote a substantial document by that exact title. :)
Thanks, Godzilla.
Oh, boy...restornu just ain't battin 1000 on this one.
Just like the FLDS bunch:
Ergo.....they are not Mormon, by definition.
Thank you for your kind thoughts and best wishes for me...it is appreciated and taken to heart..
As I said, you were just fine, your tone and manner to me, were both excellent...
That's exactly right; they are learning that I know the Scriptures and do not hesitate to state the truth, no apologize for a lie.
What truth you seek to proclaim, is merely the truth as you personally happen to see it...lurkers and other posters will of course, take that for what it is worth...and may vehemently disagree with you...
The Truth isn't what someone owns or personally sees. Joseph Smith "personally saw" something and claims it's "the truth." But it is not. The words of Mormon leaders are thus:
Something is either the truth or it is a lie. The truth: Christ's deity has been denied. In fact, according to Mormon doctrine, Jesus is a creation, the product of relations between god and his goddess wife who used to be people from another world (Mormon Doctrine by Bruce McConkie, pp. 192, 321, 516, 589). Jesus is the literal spirit brother of Satan/Lucifer as well as each and every person (McConkie, pp, 192, 589). According to Mormon doctrine, God has a body of flesh and bones (Doctrine & Covenants, 130:22.) as does his wife and together they produce spirit offspring in heaven who inhabit human bodies on earth.
These things put Christ down into creature being rather than Creator. Furthermore, according to Mormon doctrine, there is no trinity; they claim the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are separate, individual beings. The evangelical, pentecostal, non-denominational, as well as, denominational Christians (such as the Catholics) are in agreement: God is a triune God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are One.
John 1:1
Hebrews 1:
"Isaiah 43:10,11. Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD [Jehovah] and my servant whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God [Elohim] formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD [Jehovah]; and beside me there is no savior.
Note from these verses that there are several things which God wants us to know, believe, and understand: (1) There is only one God (Elohim) and Jehovah is that one true God. (2) There were no Elohims formed before Jehovah. This means that Jehovah does not have a Father. That is, no God (Elohim) preceded him, by whom He was procreated. (3) There will be no Elohims formed after Jehovah. Therefore, when God said no gods would be formed after him, it must mean no real, true Gods.
any lurkers remain lurkers, simply because they do fear going into the fray, and do want to be set upon, by others telling them that they can be Christian if and only if, they come up to some other posters personal standards of what determines who is and who is not a Christian...
The "personal standards" are those according to Christ's Words, which they may either accept or reject.
So it does please me quite a bit, that you continue on, in this way, everyone can make up their mind about you, and about me, and about everyone on this thread and every other thread...that is good..nothing funny or hilarious about it, as you have tried to intimate...
Oh good, I'm so glad they can 'come to know us' and what we each stand for, or not. And thanks again for providing the opportunity for me to post the Truth. It makes my day! : )
The Articles of Faith outline 13 basic points of belief of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The Prophet Joseph Smith first wrote them in a letter to John Wentworth, a newspaper editor, in response to Mr. Wentworth's request to know what members of the Church believed.
They were subsequently published in Church periodicals.
They are now regarded as scripture and included in the Pearl of Great Price.

One can read anything one want into this post, but it is being taken out of context because it is dealing many different facets non related to this discussion, so this was a waste of your unchristian like time TN!
Acts 10:42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

Colossians 3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

2 Timothy 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
2 Timothy 1:13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

And if a Colorado City FUNDY had written this...
I accept Christ as my savior, but I dont accept all your doctrines. You have attempted to define MORMONISM as accepting a particular set of doctrines, so as to exclude those who are believers in Christ, but who dont agree with you on other things. I reject your definition. Whether I am a MORMON (or not) is between me and my Savior.
Interesting how much we can learn about others....isn't it?
resty responded:
Please share why you think with your hostile approach I should share anything with you if all you want to do is faultfind which is not of the Lord.
Resty, you sure are being testy tonight. pby asked you these questions straight out, nothing added. Are you unable to answer or just unwilling. If unable, please say so, if unwilling, then take some time off and watch a movie, because you are wound up tighter that a cat in the middle of a raceway and your hostility is not adding to the discussion.
