FLDS Parents Could Face Charges for Abandoning their "Lost Boys"
KCPW News ^ | February 14, 2008

Posted on 02/22/2008 9:11:12 AM PST by Zakeet

They're called the "Lost Boys," the teenagers kicked out of their homes and communities by leaders of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to ensure there's an ample supply of single, young women who will one day become plural wives. Representative Lorie Fowlke (R-Orem), is running a bill to make this abandonment a felony.

"Estimates are that we've had more than 1,000 children - primarily in southern Utah - thrown out of their homes," Fowlke says. "What we were trying to do with this bill is criminalize this behavior and send a message to this community that they can't just throw away their children."

H.B. 23 adds child abandonment to the definition of child abuse, and makes it a felony crime. It also adds an enhancement if a parent or organization benefits from the child's abandonment to further an illegal enterprise, such as polygamy. This is the case with the FLDS church, says Roger Hoole, a lawyer who represents some of the displaced young men and sits on the board for the Utah Association for Justice. He says the church benefits from kicking out young men who would compete for plural wives. This, he says, has devastating consequences.

"There's a huge impact that's coming, like a tsunami, that's going to hit the state of Utah, when these boys get a little older and realize what has happened to them and get angry," Hoole says. "There's a real problem here."

Fowlke's bill gained unanimous support in a Senate committee this morning, and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

NO & NO

Finally!

Restornu does not think that polygamous marriage, involving teenage girls, is child abuse.

There is no need to continue this conversation it is you who have the problem with the LDS Standard works.

You seem to be in denial...The New York Times headline read that Joseph Smith was a fraud.

The day Helen Mar Kimball was married she return and continue to live with her parents and did not attend many of the adult functions.

Then why did they get married?

I thought that it was sanctioned by God...If so, why was it necessary for her to go back home to live with her parents?

You still wilfully do not understand the doctrine do you? Then you condone murder? Apparently you believe that it doesn’t matter whether you murder or not, you are saved. Goodness, you have a surprise in store for you, don’t you.

The Mountain Meadows Massacre

The mormons murdered 120 innocent people...

Brigham Young has blood on his hands...

Since Brigham young is guilty of murder...is he saved ???

I guess Brigham Young has a surprise in store for him...

And it wont be 72 virgins...

You seem to be in denial... Really

The New York Times headline read that Joseph Smith was a fraud.

Yes and what does an Art Museum are the NYT know!

Still to this day the Pyramids are tightly secured so that inquiring minds are not allowed to get close to study Egyptian History, we are told what Egypt wants us to know!

So why bother getting married that day ???

Just when did “eternity” start ???

Biblical marriage is not a one night stand...

That is heresy and many folks like to engage in gossip never mind proof!

This tragedy was used to exploit the Church but the movie that came out last summer failed, because there were so many liberties taken.

This reminds me of the ten virgins 5 who kept the faith of the Lord and obeyed and 5 who were weak and not ready could not endure.

It is like that in every flock many will follow counsel and trust in the Lord and some will go the way of the world, only this time because of fear many lives were needlessly taken.

The Church has always counsel

1. D&C 87:
8 Wherefore, stand ye in holy places, and be not moved, until the day of the Lord come; for behold, it cometh quickly, saith the Lord. Amen.

2. D&C 101:
22 Behold, it is my will, that all they who call on my name, and worship me according to mine everlasting gospel, should gather together, and stand in holy places;

Brigham Young never order that action and the counsel has always been for the LDS to wait upon the Lord!

...and to read someone is trying to perpetuation such accusation against Brigham Young does shows indifference for truth!

It's the same rule. The Old Testament saints were saved by grace through faith, but their sins were not atoned until the cross. Christ paid the price for the sins of the whole world. It is by grace through faith that the effect of that atonement is made manifest.

I agree with that. Some people argue that the heroes of the Old Testament are in Hell because "Jesus wasn't born yet for them." Obviously, that is a specious argument.

You and I are on the same page with regard to grace through faith.

What part of "I do not care who started it" do you not understand?

Sir/Ma'am,

Yes, I understand English.

What I don't understand is selective enforcement of forum rules that you have presented.

I would appreciate it if you would answer MHGinTN's post #1,578.

Thank you.

If you observe all the Comment #XX Removed by Moderator you can discern somewhat of what happened. Old Mountain Man called the Rev. Graham some horrible name, I responded, and the RM removed all the ugly evidence.

HMmmm...

Sounds very similar to what has happened in this country BEFORE the 'Net!!!

Now all those, ahem, untidy bits of 'negativity' uttered and written by LDS leaders are being revealed.

Thank YOU; Al Gore; for INVENTING this wonderful tool for getting Truth to the masses.

"Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African Race? If the White man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be so."

Poor ol' BY: didn't he realize that GOD can change his mind at any time!!

On ANY subject?

It HAS to be obvious, for I see NONE of the kids of mixed marriages at OUR church, only having their BLACK parent raising them!
