FLDS Parents Could Face Charges for Abandoning their "Lost Boys"
KCPW News ^ | February 14, 2008

Posted on 02/22/2008 9:11:12 AM PST by Zakeet

They're called the "Lost Boys," the teenagers kicked out of their homes and communities by leaders of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to ensure there's an ample supply of single, young women who will one day become plural wives. Representative Lorie Fowlke (R-Orem), is running a bill to make this abandonment a felony.

"Estimates are that we've had more than 1,000 children - primarily in southern Utah - thrown out of their homes," Fowlke says. "What we were trying to do with this bill is criminalize this behavior and send a message to this community that they can't just throw away their children."

H.B. 23 adds child abandonment to the definition of child abuse, and makes it a felony crime. It also adds an enhancement if a parent or organization benefits from the child's abandonment to further an illegal enterprise, such as polygamy. This is the case with the FLDS church, says Roger Hoole, a lawyer who represents some of the displaced young men and sits on the board for the Utah Association for Justice. He says the church benefits from kicking out young men who would compete for plural wives. This, he says, has devastating consequences.

"There's a huge impact that's coming, like a tsunami, that's going to hit the state of Utah, when these boys get a little older and realize what has happened to them and get angry," Hoole says. "There's a real problem here."

Fowlke's bill gained unanimous support in a Senate committee this morning, and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

“Is it not true both of you dislike the Mormon faith?

Say Mormons are not Christians?

I have no problem with mainstream because I can find a lot in common.”

They might be Catholic, the largest and oldest Christian church. Catholics do not accept Mormonism as Christian.

As far as I know no church does.

What are you referring to, restornu, that may not be factual...something specific?

If you show me concrete documentation that something is not factual, I will make a retraction.

What do you two want?

I want a Mormon on this thread to answer direct questions with specific answers.

I don't like any faith that contradicts the Christian faith of the Bible, the faith that was once given (the faith that we are to contend for).

My real point was that you could be, nobody considers Mormons to be Christians and that includes the Roman Catholic church.

One thing that Mormons constantly work on is to separate Christians and label all Christian opposition as evangelical, or Baptist, or best of all for them, “some fundamentalists”.

They are constantly trying to shrink the significance of Christian non acceptance of Mormonism by implying that it is only a small number of oddball, renegade bigots that do not accept their claim to be part of the Christian faith, rather than admitting that it is the common view of Christianity in general.

Mormons stand alone, outside of the faith.

.....renegade bigots that do not accept their claim to be part of the Christian faith, ......

Can't remember where I read it, the goal of mormonism is not so much as to gain equality of recognition as 'Christian', but to totally usurp current Christianity and replace it.

No question that the purpose of a mass cult is to devour all, and Mormonism has outlived it’s creator and now is clearly on that path, but it still has to proceed with a series of progressions to attain that goal in the distant future.

At this time they are striving to integrate into the larger Christian identity and to find cover under it’s umbrella.

Once it becomes impossible for people to criticize it in public, that is a break through to a new fertile future for it’s Borg like methods.

Well, they already believe they have "replaced" Christianity. Joseph Smith himself said the visions he had labeled all other Christians an "abomination."

Old Mountain Man called Rev. Billy Graham, who is perhaps one of the greatest men in all Christian history, as an "apostate."

Here is a thread that should be a reference, but alas, our totally unbiased RM deleted much of it.

Billy Graham Recovering After Surgery

If you observe all the Comment #XX Removed by Moderator you can discern somewhat of what happened. Old Mountain Man called the Rev. Graham some horrible name, I responded, and the RM removed all the ugly evidence.

I have traveled to many countries as an Air Force Officer and pilot. When I was in China and Russia, I knew my hotel rooms were bugged - in fact, I was told by the Embassy they were bugged.

I felt the same way when I went back to these threads, on FR, and they were conveniently "edited." No profanity, mind you, or racism. Just a great "clean up." It is disturbing.

But I digress. Back to your original point:

Restornu probably gets her name from "restored" church or "restored" something, although I am sure.

So, we are all "apostates" and "swine" as Freepers pby and P-Marlowe have discovered.

Also, if OMM and restornu get upset that I talked about them in this post and didn't ping them, sorry, but I won't do that any longer. That is a common courtesy (which I fully support), however, neither of them quite frankly have earned nor deserve on this thread.

That's not "personal" - RM. Notice I didn't use the LDS terms that are accepted as not considered personal by the RM: "bigot", "liar", "lazy", and "depraved soul!"

It has the white down...

but I am not sure about the flat nose!

Remember...the flat nose was also mentioned by the prophets as being part of the curse.

According to Brigham Young, in the Journal of Discourses, "Cain slew his brother. . . and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin."

And make sure to warn the white salamanders that, "Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African Race? If the White man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be so."

But tell the "darkies" salamanders that there is no hope...not even with good soap, "For instance, the descendants of Cain cannot cast off their skin of blackness, at once, and immediately, although every soul of them should repent,....Cain and his posterity must wear the mark which God put upon them; and his white friends may wash the race of Cain with fuller's soap every day, they cannot wash away God's mark."

All quotes courtesy of Mormon prophet, Brigham Young.
