EMMITSBURG, Md. Police have arrested two men they say vandalized the Grotto of Lourdes at Mount St. Marys University.
Police estimated the damage at about $1,500.
The Frederick County Sheriffs Office said in a news release that Timothy A. Hines, 20, of Silver Spring, Md.; and Jesse R. Huston, 20, of Derwood, Md., were arrested early Sunday.
Both are charged with malicious destruction of property over $500, malicious destruction of property under $500, trespassing and defacing religious property, police said.
Police said the men entered the Grotto of Lourdes and allegedly damaged a large cross and several glass jars containing prayer candles.
Wonder what it was that motivated them to go all the way up there just to make trouble.

Satan worship is my guess.
The kindest words I can find (the rest I cannot say on this forum) for these two are: low, common, no-count gutter trash.
They should pay for fixing it all up.
Yes, I have taught CCD, and encountered rebellious children. Like the ninth grade girl who had four absences in a row. When the coordinator paid a visit to her parents, they said they dropped her off every Wed. evening at Church and picked her up at 8:30. Thing is, she was with a boyfriend at his house instead of in class.

Whoa. For a second I thought you said predestination.
LOL!!!
Maybe they were predestined to go on a retreat?
The rest of their activities cannot be explained.
Very strange.
Unlike full-grown adults, kids sometimes have different reasons for going to retreats: parents might force them to go, they might go because of the possibility of hooking up, etc.
Or, they might not have been there associated with the retreat, at all...I was just saying it was an interesting coincidence.
BTW, here's some pics of the perps:

Huston
Sorry for the duplicates. None of them showed up on my ping list until the last one. Can you delete the replicas. Thanx
3:00 a.m., the witching or Satan’s hour, the inverse of the hour when Christ gave up the ghost.
The same crime happened at the U of Notre Dame. The memorial went back up and the campus K of C gave themselves the duty of protecting it. The haters are in ascension and the pacifist response is the wrong reaction. Vandalism is a crime even if we as Catholics don’t rate “hate crime” status.
Jesus said to his disciples:
You have heard that it was said,
You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.
But I say to you, love your enemies
and pray for those who persecute you,
that you may be children of your heavenly Father,
for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good,
and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.
For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have?
Do not the tax collectors do the same?
And if you greet your brothers only,
what is unusual about that?
Do not the pagans do the same?
So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Matthew 5: 43-48
Forgiving someone doesn’t wipe out the demands of justice. Neither does the demand of justice negate love or prayer. The often forgotten justice is that which is required between us and society; the one that demands that we obey laws. There is no other way to build a just society.
