Not only has some of the most greatest artwork been divinely inspired - think DaVinci and Michaelangelo - but some of the greatest classical music as well.

As for icons, I love going to the old missions and seeing the amount of icons they either made or managed to lug over centuries ago from europe. :o)

Very interesting! I was in Rome in February and visited a truly remarkable (!) number of churches in my stay - and one thing that impressed me was the vast quantity of very Byzantine-like work that is found in Roman churches. Of course, in many cases it is quite old and dates back to the first centuries of Christianity. But it’s interesting to see that this was obviously the artistic vision of all of Christianity, once upon a time.
