Please join me, if you will, in praying for those whose lives have been touched by the tragedy at Virginia Tech, and for our nation as we react to it, and all those who have been touched by the tragedies of mid-April: Waco, the Murrah Building, Columbine, and all who will flash back to the disasters in their own lives because of this.

Jesus
We are told that when your friend Lazarus died, you cried.
It is a strange and miraculous thing that we can pray to a God
who has felt hot tears of helpless grief run down his face,
who has felt the pain and loss heave and well up inside
as if it would break him.
Jesus, comfort those who grieve today
for they have no visitor
who will call out their Lazarus from the grave.
But may they have a friend
who will grieve with them and comfort them.

I join you in this prayer.
It’s just unimaginable that there are 32 families out there who have been so devastated, all at once on a bright Spring morning. Prayers for these young people and their families.

“There is no such thing as death for a Christian who believes in the Resurrection.” Father Ho Lung said that when he preached at my parish yesterday morning. I’ve been repeating it all day.

Special prayers up to the families of those who lost their lives or were injured by this agent of satan. May they find comfort from the Almighty.
May the perpetrator rot in eternal damnation.
