Lord, on this day when so many people are affected by the loss of life, the loss of their loved ones, the vision of the evil that men do, we ask you for your mercy. Bring your healing to those who have been so harmed by this, students, teachers, parents, friends, loved ones, law enforcement officers, and all who are touched by this tragedy.
Teach us Lord, to love, to forgive, and to walk in your light, and when we fail, be with us, and pick us up out of the mire we slip into, and bring those so hurt into your peace.
In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
Prayers up.
Thanks for the thread.
Jesus
We are told that when your friend Lazarus died, you cried.
It is a strange and miraculous thing that we can pray to a God
who has felt hot tears of helpless grief run down his face,
who has felt the pain and loss heave and well up inside
as if it would break him.
Jesus, comfort those who grieve today
for they have no visitor
who will call out their Lazarus from the grave.
But may they have a friend
who will grieve with them and comfort them.
I join you in this prayer.
It’s just unimaginable that there are 32 families out there who have been so devastated, all at once on a bright Spring morning. Prayers for these young people and their families.
O good and gracious God
We stand before you, conscious of your presence,
and ask you to hold the injured and the dead in your hands.
Comfort those left today bereft and frightened.
We ask you to give strength and protection to the emergency workers
and health care professionals involved in this tragedy.
Please give wisdom to our leaders.
We place our security and the security of the world in your hands.
We entrust our peace and the peace of the world to you.
We make these requests in the name of Jesus the Lord.
Amen.
I also join in your prayers.
I like this prayer, I am going to use it.
Anger burns
in my heart,
and longs to jump from my heart,
to my tongue
to the minds of those
who have hurt me,
how it wishes to consume them all,
that anger,
like a grass fire sweeping over the prarie,
or exploding trees in a stand of fir,
leaving nothing behind
but ash,
and dust
and black.
And yet, Lord,
as I pour through the water of your word, O Lord,
I stand ashamed of this fire,
eating at my heart,
so different than the soothing balm of forgiveness
you have asked me to be generous with,
the kind word spoken
instead of the burning one,
the cup of water given
instead of the curse,
prayer,
care,
and love
instead of fire.
O Lord,
I see how you showed me,
when all men’s hands seemed turned against you,
and you forgave,
you offered up your misery,
bore our griefs,
gave your heart’s blood.
O Jesus,
may your blood put out this fire
that asks me to harm,
may your touch heal my aching,
so that I can go forth
walking in your shadow,
bearing your light,
the light that heals
the waters that salve,
the balm that saves,
this day and always,
Amen.
Joining you in prayer to all in VT affected by this horrible event.
My prayers are with the victims, their familes and friends.
May the hearts broken with grief and rage be calmed by the comforting and everlasting love of God. Amen.
“There is no such thing as death for a Christian who believes in the Resurrection.” Father Ho Lung said that when he preached at my parish yesterday morning. I’ve been repeating it all day.
I was hoping someone would post a thread like this. Thank you!

Special prayers up to the families of those who lost their lives or were injured by this agent of satan. May they find comfort from the Almighty.
May the perpetrator rot in eternal damnation.
Prayers for these poor, fallen souls.
Bring them to eternal rest, O Lord!
Dear God, please grant my prayer to prevent this from happening. Give strength to those who survive this tragedy.
