Pelosi to stress family, faith
Baltimore Sun ^ | December 12, 2006 | Matthew Hay Brown

WASHINGTON -- As she introduces herself next month to a national audience, incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be stressing her roots in working-class, Catholic Baltimore as a way of recasting the liberal image with which Republicans have tried to brand her.

An unusual four-day schedule of festivities to celebrate her swearing-in is tentatively scheduled to begin in Baltimore on Jan. 2 at the Church of St. Leo the Great in Little Italy...

Thank you for the address.

Below is my letter to Cardinal Keeler.

Your Eminence;

You may be aware that Representative Nancy Pelosi is scheduled to visit and speak at St. Leo the Great on January 2, 2007.

As the Chair for the Committee on Pro-Life Activities for the USCCB, you are aware that Representative Pelosi can no way be characterized as holding anything resembling the Church’s position concerning abortions.

Her visit would be a cause of great scandal and confusion. It may be construed as silent assent of Representative Pelosi’s positions.

I pray that Your Eminence will be a good shepherd and take a stand against such an action.

Your truly

(panzerkardinal)

This truly disgusts me. During Advent, no less. Let's pray that the Holy Spirit works to save our under-informed and impressionable brothers and sisters from falling into this scandal.

Father, tell us why the church is silent - nay adulatory- toward those in power who rigorously work to codify immoral acts and outright evil into the laws of our blessed nation?

Pelosi Statement on Federal Court Ruling That Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Is Unconstitutional

June 2, 2004
Washington, D.C. -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement in response to today's ruling in San Francisco by U.S. District Court Judge Phyllis Hamilton that declares the so-called Partial-Birth Abortion Ban unconstitutional:

"Today the District Court confirmed what we have known and have been saying since this legislation was introduced. The federal ban on abortion procedures is extreme, it violates a woman's right to make private medical decisions, and it endangers women's health.

"When President Bush signed the so-called 'Partial-Birth Abortion Ban' into law, he became the first President in history to ban a safe and medically-accepted medical procedure. It was a deliberate attack on reproductive health care and a violation of women's privacy and their right to make their own decisions.

"This misguided law puts women's health in serious danger because it fails to contain an exception for what is best for the health of a woman, a principle that was established by the Supreme Court in Carhart v. Stenberg.

"Clearly, President Bush and politicians should not be making medical decisions. A woman, in consultation with her family, her doctor, and her clergy, is best qualified to make those decisions. Instead of banning medically-safe procedures, Congress should focus on providing a broad range of reproductive options for women, including family planning, contraception, and healthy childbearing."

Dear Cardinal Keeler,

May the blessings of the Advent Season be with you.

There is a great need to highlight and give a platform to Catholics in public life who courageously uphold norms of justice. In our day and age, this requires moving beyond conventional labels (Democrat/Republican, liberal/conservative) to find and support the outstanding women and men who act for social justice in all its aspects. This would certainly include opposition to pre-emptive warfare, mass deportations, torture, arbitrary imprisonment, abortion, sexual abuse or perversion, and other offenses against human life and dignity.

No doubt, one can find much which is attactive about a mother, grandmother, representative, and leader like The Hon. Nancy Pelosi. However, no matter how laudable her political career may be in other ways, there's no getting around the fact that she has a 0% voting record concerning the fundamental right to simply go on living.

This means that she voted FOR:

Funding of embryo-killing research
Funding for Abortion in Military
Funding for Coercive Abortion via UNFPA
Funding for Abortion in federal prisons

And she voted AGAINST:

The Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act
The Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act
Unborn Victims of Violence Act
Partial-Birth Abortion Ban
Human cloning Ban
Child Custody Protection Act

This represents an extraordinary record of 100% for abortion and abortion funding abortion in every instance, and 100% hostility to the human rights and well-being of the child before birth.

This is a truly shocking and repugnant voting record.

In June 2004, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops approved the statement “Catholics in Political Life,” including the mandate: “The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.”
I urge you to deny any Catholic platform to Rep. Nancy Pelosi. A pastoral concern for her soul, which is precious to God, would demand rather a call to repentance in Jesus' Name.

That is, if we love her as we should.

Sincerely,

[signature]

Nancy Pelosi trying to make herself out to be a Catholic...............ROFL, ROFL, ROFL, ROFL! That's like Jimmy Carter tying to make himself out to be tough on Third World tyrants and murderers.

A buddy's sister, if she were still alive, would sum up "Miz" Pelosi's stunt as follows: "Oh honey, puleeeeeeeeeeeeze!"

I sent an e-mail to Keeler, and this was the answer I got.

In response to your email to the Archdiocese concerning Nancy Pelosi, I write to inform you that Mrs. Pelosi is not planning to speak at St. Leo the Great Church on January 2, 2007. Mrs. Pelosi will be attending a ceremony to rename a street in Little Italy on January 2. On her way to that ceremony she has informed the parish that she plans to stop at the church to pray privately at her family's pew before moving on to the ceremony.

An OUTSTANDING letter! Strikes just the right note.

If he doesn't respond to that, he has a heart of stone.

I think that addressing this issue to the Cardinal is probably the way to go. Unfortunately, I understand he has not been in robust health of late and since his accident in Italy.

It's digusting that Pelosi is using the Catholic Church as a photo op!

The parish can forbid her of making it a media event...And in addition to that, they can inform the priest of the Mass that will follow at Trinity College, so they can withold communion from the murderer-heretic.

I think this was an intentional "error to the media"...to portray it as something its not. They know the media will go along with it to make it look like the Church is endorsing her, and not ask too many questions.

I also find it interesting, how many pro-abort CINO Democrat congressmen are in "private-prayer", in the various parishes across the nation...as if it somehow removes them from their Mass duty. Oh, how convenient for all that is, since there won't be any stories in the media as to whether they recieive communion or not.
