Pelosi to stress family, faith
Baltimore Sun ^ | December 12, 2006 | Matthew Hay Brown

WASHINGTON -- As she introduces herself next month to a national audience, incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be stressing her roots in working-class, Catholic Baltimore as a way of recasting the liberal image with which Republicans have tried to brand her.

An unusual four-day schedule of festivities to celebrate her swearing-in is tentatively scheduled to begin in Baltimore on Jan. 2 at the Church of St. Leo the Great in Little Italy...

I don't doubt she has faith. Just not in God.

"Pelosi" and "Catholic"? Isn't this an oximoron?

...first of all, the rats believe in abortion, so they don't believe in family. ....second of all, they don't like religion, so there goes the faith....

...now you want to talk about what they believe in, big government, welfare, sitting around the bond fire and eating roasted marshmellows, going to pubs and turning into drunks that drive off bridges and kill women, lieing, cheating, stealing, anything that has corruption involved....

...this is the state of the rat....the worse you are, the higher you go in their views....

""She's mentioned 'grandmother' at appropriate times in the past as a way of telegraphing, 'I'm not who you think I am,'" Jamieson said. "The Catholic Mass also signals something very important. The Democratic Party wants those defecting Catholics who have voted for Republicans for a long time but came back to the Democratic Party in 2006 to see the Democratic Party as home. And there is a real advantage to stressing long-lived marriage to one person, mother of five, grandmother."

The Dems' strategy for the past 2 years has been to use the split between Christian/Catholic liberals to their advantage. It's working and it's scary. Fr. Salerno is most likely a liberal priest and part of the liberal clergy who want to go in the exact opposite direction that Pope Benedict is trying to take the Church.

Someone should ask Pelosi her opinion of the unanimous statement by the San Fancisco Board of Supervisors calling the Catholic Church "hateful" for refusing to sanction homosexual adoptions.

Let's find out how Catholic this hardcore gay marriage and abortion/infanticide supporter is.

In celebrating her "Baltimore heritage," how much attention will she pay to her corrupt political background? Her father, Mayor Tommy D'Alesandro, Jr., was as crooked as a dog's hind leg, but was never charged with anything.

Her brother, Tommy, III, was also Mayor. When he was about 20 (and they were briefly my next-door neighbors), he beat a charge of rape when the complaining witness suddenly became scarce until the charges were dismissed. After he became Mayor, he and Councilman Mimi DiPietro were charged with corruption. The one principal witness disappeared until the charges were dismissed.

The witness showed up in a Las Vegas casino after the charges were safely dismissed. I know this; I raised it as a public issue when I ran for the Council in 1971.

Yes, Nancy D'Alesandro Pelosi has an interesting Baltimore background. It is a culture of corruption. She really knows about cash and carry government; she grew up with that.

I think this is one that we can all disagree on. She really can't re-make herself. Too late. We will not fall for the attempted religious makeover.
