A friend is attending the US bishops' meeting in Baltimore this week and sent along the following. (One must find ways to keep oneself amused... and awake.) These are all actual words used by the bishops from the last hour of the bishops’ meeting yesterday. Just combine any word from Column A with any word from Column B with any word from Column C. The system pretty much gives you an idea as to the content of most of the USCCB documents.

Column A Column B Column C
Thoughtful Scientific Collaboration
Simultaneous Evolving Ministry
Relevant Human Structure
Universal Shifting Development
Flexible Multicultural Dialog
Diverse Theological Person
Acute Cultural Committee
Sensitive Latino Amendment
Temporary Inclusive Issue
Limited Hispanic Staff
Standing Organic Priority
Practical Collaborative Reduction
Larger African-American Solution
Special Supporting Focus
Larger Ethnic Agenda
Strong Doctrinal Budget
Persuasive Standing Conference
Friendly Ad Hoc Challenge
Final Modular Rationale
Involved Emotional Committee
Growing Proactive Resource
Careful Reactive Community
Effective Sustaining Subcommittee
Permanent Restructuring Committee
Responsible National Model
Strategic Ecclesial Process
Forthcoming Procedure
Appropriate Analysis
Long Mode
Possible Stewardship

We play "BS Bingo" here at work. You have to take 36 words and put them into a grid, like a Bingo board.

Here are our 36 words:

bottom line, best practices, core competencies, strategic fit, synergies
benchmark, out of the loop, 24/7, take that off-line, revisit
fast track, outside the box, win-win, proactive, value-added
touch base, at the end of the day, knowledge base, empower, results-driven
leverage, game plan, ballpark, client-focused, mindset

See if you get bingo in a single meeting.

LOL, the hours of fun mixing and matching. And then shuddering when realizing they may be serious about some of the combos, even if just as a suggestion that is turned down.

I'd like to add 'Dance' (or Dance-tastic) as every 2nd or 3rd year someone here tries to resurrect Liturgical Dance. Tee hee, liturgical could be added to one column and dance to another.

That just gives me Permanent Organic Issues.

Yes, shudder. They kept using these words over and over again to justify keeping their particular ministries funded and staffed. It made me ill.

I could watch that stuff for only so long. Nevertheless, I think I caught THE moment of the Session when one Bishop took to the microphone and asked...

"Where is the Document on Comunication?

(The Cameras showed his brother Bishops casting quizzical glances at each other before the Bishop-Moderator said)...

"Nobody knows"

BTW, is there any way I can get Penitential Credit for yesterday's viewing and transfer it to Lent?

"Ad hoc" made the list. It's good to see they haven't abandoned Latin completely.

LOL, that's a good one. And it's predecessor, "Simultaneous Dance Challenge". We could select teams and have contests or dance-offs and themes for liturgical seasons.... Oh, gag, I'd better stop before I give someone out there ideas.
