I am so weary of this kind of talk:
Susan Russell, president of Integrity USA the mission of which is to witness of Gods inclusive love to the Episcopal Church and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community said that Integrity and the people represented by the organization are deeply committed to this church and to this Communion. She called for more both and thinking in a church that exists as both catholic and reformed, to revision itself as being both autonomous and interdependent.
Michael Hopkins, past president of Integrity USA, commended A159 in principle. He also endorsed autonomy in Communion and that these should be held in tension with one another. He called on the committee to trust that the Spirits creativity lies in that tension.
bttt
It's the Church of Me.
I sure could describe the other lord being propagated in the ELCA.
He is the lord who doesnt purify and save, but enables and leaves in the muck.
He is the lord who does not claim exclusive power, authority, honor, and might, but suffers different paths and saviors to god.
He is the lord who is shaped and defined by our self-perceived needs (read wants), or our chronological snobbery, not tied down by what any old fuddy-duddy Israelites or disciples had to say about him.
He is the lord who is so sensitive that he lets you burn your hand, body, and soul in the fire rather than say a peep, because everything will be ok in the end, whatever that means.
He is the lord that does not hate evil, and wills and causes its destruction, but rather changes our old fashioned minds to see evil and good as merely different perspectives. He is the lord molded and shaped by the sinful thoughts of a sinful people.
He is "god" created in our image: an Idol.
>>If I hear another Episcopalian utter words such as "in tension," "both / and," "Spirit," "creativity," "re-vision," or "prophetic," in anything but an ironical way, I might explode.<<
And, to these may I add: inclusive, accepting, affirming, diversity, & listening? Perfectly good English words that have all been highjacked, twisted, & perverted the same way that the word "gay" no longer means "happy, lighthearted, & festive." I agree with you....ugh!
Ugh.
A couple of reactions to the DU posts. Typical, but worth pointing out.
The reference to "MY church" is sooooooooooo common. When did it become *MY* church and not God's church?
Also the "I am not an abomination" thing. They so miss it. No, 'they' are NOT an abomination. None of us are. We are children of the Most High God. Our blatent in-your-face sin in the sight of God *IS* the abomination.
It's so prevalent in the liberal circle that you ARE what you DO. God hates the sin, never his children.
They'll never get it, because the don't WANT to reconcile to God. They want God to accept their sin.
**sigh**
