Is Joel Osteen more influential than George Bush?

From a stand point of being vocal about their Christianity and working to influence people to the teachings of Christianity they yes Joel is more influential in that respect. Many of those listed are associated with TBN actually including TD Jakes, Hagee, Meyers, and a few others including the owners of it. But many more listed aren't nor are they ministers nor even have ministries.

If you go into Christian Book stores or Christian sections of secular stores and many of the ones listed are going to have a book there. I think the list is being somewhat misunderstood but I have some reservations about some in it myself. I'm Baptist but I would put the Pope in the top 5 at least. This man leads the largest church in the nation.

I wonder if such a list is really advisable.

I agree with that! Especially considering that 60% of Christians are now living in the Southern Hemisphere...and are among the most fervently Christian.

Hey, He believes in Himself and in His message from God. Isn't that the make-up of a Christian?

:-)

Hi Steven:)

Ya know, I thought about it, and the only way most of these "influential" Christians influenced me was to not trust any influential Christians:)

It is basically different worlds between FR and RR. We have political conservatives who are traditionalist Christendom here, and RR has a number of evangelical Christians who aren't necessarily politically conservative.

It is expected, as these two boards have different ethos's.

I suspect the modern day Peter and Paul's are those nobody has ever heard of.

Is Joel Osteen more influential than George Bush? As much as Bush pisses me off lately, I think he's more influential than Joel Osteen.

Bush can order a nuclear strike. Osteen can't.

I noticed right away there were no recognizable FReepers on this list. In my humble opinion....it is suspect from the start!

What about Rev. Adrian Rogers who recently passed away, and Rev. Ed Young of "Winning Walk Ministries"? Or how about Pastor Jack Van Impe, Pastor Hal Lindsey?

"I am somewhat confused as to how they got ranked in that order. SEAN HANNITY is #40 and POPE BENEDICT XVI is #44?"

I think it's because nobody even heard about the present Pope before he became Pope. If you're not known, you don't have much influence except the areas of the country you are known in. Sean Hannity is well known in the United States and even overseas. Give Pope Benedict time, he'll make his presence known soon enough.

I did not know that Dr. Phil is a Christian.

I don't buy it. His web site lists 10 rules for living. God isn't mentioned in any of them. I don't buy it.
