The nation's major television networks have rejected an ad that shows a gay couple and others being banished from a church, saying it violates their rules against controversial or religious advertising.
The 30-second commercial for the United Church of Christ will begin airing on cable networks and Spanish-language stations next week. The ad, called "Ejector," shows a gay couple, a single mother, a disabled man and others flying out of their pews as a wrinkled hand pushes a red button.
Text on the screen reads, "God doesn't reject people. Neither do we," and a voiceover says, "The United Church of Christ. No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you're welcome here."
The church tried to run a similar ad in December 2004 in which bouncers outside a church stopped gay couples, racial minorities and others from entering. The networks also rejected that ad.
The decision by CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox to decline the latest advertisement shows the networks have a narrow view of acceptable images of gays and lesbians, church leader Ron Buford said Monday.

Frightening that they would put such confrontative content into an ad, given how non-confrontative the UCC itself is theologically. The word "Christ" in the title is about the only thing that separates them from the Unitarians.

A bogus ad from an intellectually and morally bankrupt institution.

What it shows is they have a shred of common sense. A sliver, the width of one human hair, a pebble on the beach...ie not much but it worked this time.

"God doesn't reject people."That part is true.
People, however, reject God by way of sin.
And that includes homosexual acts, regardless of what the sissies at UCC say about it.

I'm thinking of a red button that opens a trap door below the fag couple causing them to slide screaming into a fiery, hellish chasm.

Well, I can see why a Church wouldn't want a gay couple and even too lesser extent not want a single mother(though it is a bit of a stretch) but a disabled person??? Whaaaat??? Is he trying out for the Church Softball team?

The perfect Bible verse for those inolerant bigoted, leftists.

What they're suggesting is half right. If churches were in the business of rejecting sinners at the door, they'd be empty! Why should a church body reject a homosexual sinner faster than a heterosexual sinner? Answer: they should not.
The ad leaves out what so many liberal factions of the Church are also guilty of omitting: open, practicing homosexuals are either ignorant or unabashedly impenitent sinners. Ignorance can be cured, but Christ's church is not in the business of meeting the Devil halfway.
The United Church of Christ--two out of three ain't bad--gives me the impression that they accept homosexuality as just "different," like one's sense of fashion. I wonder, do they also accept other such aberrant lifestyles?
