Today, I was listening to a CD of St. Matthew's Gospel (the readings you posted) in my car on the way to work and I had totally forgoten what day this was
But, I have an excuse, I just got back from Holiday in Maine where I had too much Blueberry Ale, Blueberry Ice Cream, Blueberry Pancakes, Blueberry Pie, Blueberry Spaghetti etc and it is well known that too many Blueberry products renders one forgetfull of other things...
LOL! That's not what happened to a couple of the neighborhood kids when they ate a bucket of blueberries!
Welcome back, BTW.
Or you can access them right there. (I have them emailed to me.

September 08, 2005 Birth of Mary Old Calendar: Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Before the reform of the General Roman Calendar, today was also the commemoration of St. Adrian. The liturgy of Our Lady's Birthday in Rome included a procession which set out from the church of St. Adrian in the forum. It is possible that he is a martyr of Nicomedia who suffered during the Diocletian persecution.
Birth of Mary On Our Lady's birthday the Church celebrates the first dawning of redemption with the appearance in the world of the Savior's mother, Mary. The Blessed Virgin occupies a unique place in the history of salvation, and she has the highest mission ever commended to any creature. We rejoice that the Mother of God is our Mother, too. Let us often call upon the Blessed Virgin as "Cause of our joy", one of the most beautiful titles in her litany. Since September 8 marks the end of summer and beginning of fall, this day has many thanksgiving celebrations and customs attached to it. In the Old Roman Ritual there is a blessing of the summer harvest and fall planting seeds for this day. The winegrowers in France called this feast "Our Lady of the Grape Harvest". The best grapes are brought to the local church to be blessed and then some bunches are attached to hands of the statue of Mary. A festive meal which includes the new grapes is part of this day. In the Alps section of Austria this day is "Drive-Down Day" during which the cattle and sheep are led from their summer pastures in the slopes and brought to their winter quarters in the valleys. This was usually a large caravan, with all the finery, decorations, and festivity. In some parts of Austria, milk from this day and all the leftover food are given to the poor in honor of Our Ladys Nativity. Excerpted from The Holyday Book by Fr. Francis Weiser, SJ Patron: All people named Mary, in any form. (It's probably not what you learned in school)
I certainly was not aware of that fact! Thank you!
Micah 5:1-4 or Romans 8:28-30 / Matthew 1:1-16,18-23 The first of the eight Beatitudes has a hidden wisdom waiting for us. The literal reading, of course, is, "Blessed are you poor, the reign of God is yours." In a word, God is going to give the poor the kingdom, for no reason except that God is generous. The same Beatitude, however, can be read on another level, "Blessed are you who know you are poor..." Recognizing that deep down we are all poor, and that we own nothing at all, not even our own lives, comes slowly to many of us. Having a decent supply of this world's goods can insulate us from the facts of our situation as creatures. We can take ourselves too seriously. And unless we're brought up short by some tragedy, we can think that we're quite self sufficient and can dispense with bothering too much with God. An occasional bow in His direction will suffice we think. In fact, that's a recipe for disaster, because it locks out God. It's that sin of presumption which the old catechism warned us was unforgivable, because it says, "I don't need God's help," which is the biggest lie of them all. In that circumstance, a wake-up call, even if it comes in the form of a tragedy, is a blessing, because it gets us back to reality. It gets the doors open and lets God in. The stakes here are high, so some serious questions are in order: Have you faced what it means to own nothing, not even your own life?If so, you're on your way, and the kingdom of God will be yours. If not, you're in trouble and don't even know it. But you will. So don't wait for a painful wake-up call. Face the facts now, and give your life into God's hands. In the end, He's the only one who can save you, and that's exactly what He wants to do.

Thursday September 8, 2005 Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Reading (Micah 5:1-4a) Gospel (St. Matthew 1:1-16, 18-23)
As we celebrate today our Blessed Ladys birth, there are a few things we need to keep in mind. Recall, first, that there are only three birthdays the Church celebrates, that of Our Lord, Saint John the Baptist, and today, of course, our Blessed Lady. These are the three persons who were born without Original Sin: Jesus, being God, never touched by sin in the least; Saint John the Baptist, having sin removed at the moment of the Visitation when he leapt with joy in his mothers womb (so conceived with sin, but having sin removed in the womb); and Our Blessed Lady, being immaculately conceived so that never even for a split second was there any sin on our Blessed Ladys soul. Being born into the world in a hidden, quiet manner unlike that of Saint John the Baptist where the people were talking about what this child was to be, she was born hidden. People did not know, but here the highest, most perfect creature that God had made was brought into the world and with her salvation began.
We can see in the Gospel in the genealogy the way God had been working throughout salvation history through the Hebrew people, all the way through the genealogy of our Blessed Lord. But in a very specific and particular way it was with Our Ladys birth that the work of salvation had begun in a very practical way. Our Lady, then, is known as the dawn. That is, the way that the sky becomes bright even before the sun rises, Jesus being the Sun, Our Lady then being the dawn that announces the fact that the Sun is going to be coming very soon. We hear, for instance, in the first reading, the prophecy from the prophet Micah about Bethlehem Ephrathah being too small to be among the clans of Judah and yet it is from that particular little town that One is going to be raised up Who is going to be the Savior of the world. Just like Our Lady, the one who is the smallest, the one who is the most humble, the one who is completely hidden, it is from her that the Son of God was born into this world, that the savior came into this world through the one whom God had chosen specifically for this task.
It is from her, then, that we also need to learn what we have to do, to strive for humility, to strive to be hidden. But it is also this pattern that we see how Our Lady is born obviously before Our Lord in order for Our Lord to be born through her. This is the reason Saint Louis de Montfort would say that before the Second Coming of Christ, the coming of Our Ladys kingdom has to be established; that just as Our Lady came first, so now the fullness of the knowledge of Our Lady and the establishment of the kingdom of Our Blessed Lady is going to be established before the Second Coming, because in the first coming of Christ and in the first coming of Our Lady, Our Blessed Mother was completely hidden, but in the Second Coming, our Blessed Lady is going to be completely known, completely honored the way that she deserves to be honored.
That is the joy that is ours, to be able to be part of ushering in this time. I have mentioned to you many times that this is the time Our Lord has given over to His mother. This is the Blessed Mothers time. As yet, the fullness of her kingdom is not established, but that is what we are working toward, that is what Satan is so desperately trying to destroy and so desperately trying to make sure does not occur because he knows fully well that once the kingdom of Our Lady is established he has no power. None. This humble, beautiful woman has crushed his vile and despicable head, and through the humble children who will recognize the glory and honor of their mother, his head is once again going to be crushed through faith, through charity, through humility, the very things that Our Lady was known for. And those who will honor her appropriately will be known in the same way. That is the glory which we all have the possibility to share in if we will make that choice.
We look at these various points and we see how it is all coming together. The One Who is from ancient times, as we see the genealogy (but even there, of course, Our Lord goes before that), but how Our Lady fits perfectly into that. Now, throughout history, once again, we come to this point where there is the birth of Our Ladys kingdom, and it is that for which we are in travail today. That is what we are awaiting. So we can pray and we can seek to usher in the glory of our Blessed Ladys kingdom because it is through that that the glory of Our Lords kingdom, the Second Coming, is going to be brought forth. Our Lady has to be here first, the dawn that is going to bring the Sun, the dawn that announces the rising of the Sun. If we want to be prepared for the coming of the Son of God whenever it is that He should come, we first have to be watching for the dawn, to be awake, to be alert, and to be prepared. That is exactly what our Mother will do for us. But, in the meantime, we look to her and we ask her to form us as she formed Him so that we will be in the perfect image of Christ, so that we, following the example of Jesus, will be perfectly devoted to our Blessed Mother, that we will honor her and love her as she deserves to be loved and honored. In that way, in our hearts the kingdom of Our Lady will already be established as the world prepares to have her kingdom firmly established. And we will be prepared, as one day the world will be, for the blessed and glorious coming of Our Lord prefigured and preceded by the glorious coming of His mother.

How is everyone in your neck of the woods?
Well we did not get many from New Orleans who wanted to come to Philadelphia:)They love Texas.I met a woman today whose family is in the astodome and I forgot about Sister Elizabeth. She has a family she helps there and gets her clothes for them from us but all the nuns from The Sister's of the Blessed Sacrament got out safe. All is quiet with my family and our ministry is going through a change again and again we are selling the Catholic thrift store. We received a donation from a man who lost his wife 1 year ago.He gave us everything she owned and we prayed together.Three people brought me in lunch-I must look thin.I gave it all away.I ask prayers for God's will.

1 | The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham: | liber generationis Iesu Christi filii David filii Abraham |

4 | And Aram begot Aminadab. And Aminadab begot Naasson. And Naasson begot Salmon. | Aram autem genuit Aminadab Aminadab autem genuit Naasson Naasson autem genuit Salmon |
5 | And Salmon begot Booz of Rahab. And Booz begot Obed of Ruth. And Obed begot Jesse. | Salmon autem genuit Booz de Rachab Booz autem genuit Obed ex Ruth Obed autem genuit Iesse Iesse autem genuit David regem |
6 | And Jesse begot David the king. And David the king begot Solomon, of her that had been the wife of Urias. | David autem rex genuit Salomonem ex ea quae fuit Uriae |
7 | And Solomon begot Roboam. And Roboam begot Abia. And Abia begot Asa. | Salomon autem genuit Roboam Roboam autem genuit Abiam Abia autem genuit Asa |
8 | And Asa begot Josaphat. And Josaphat begot Joram. And Joram begot Ozias. | Asa autem genuit Iosaphat Iosaphat autem genuit Ioram Ioram autem genuit Oziam |
9 | And Ozias begot Joatham. And Joatham begot Achaz. And Achaz begot Ezechias. | Ozias autem genuit Ioatham Ioatham autem genuit Achaz Achaz autem genuit Ezechiam |
10 | And Ezechias begot Manasses. And Manasses begot Amon. And Amon begot Josias. | Ezechias autem genuit Manassen Manasses autem genuit Amon Amon autem genuit Iosiam |
11 | And Josias begot Jechonias and his brethren in the transmigration of Babylon. | Iosias autem genuit Iechoniam et fratres eius in transmigratione Babylonis |
12 | And after the transmigration of Babylon, Jechonias begot Salathiel. And Salathiel begot Zorobabel. | et post transmigrationem Babylonis Iechonias genuit Salathihel Salathihel autem genuit Zorobabel |
13 | And Zorobabel begot Abiud. And Abiud begot Eliacim. And Eliacim begot Azor. | Zorobabel autem genuit Abiud Abiud autem genuit Eliachim Eliachim autem genuit Azor |
14 | And Azor begot Sadoc. And Sadoc begot Achim. And Achim begot Eliud. | Azor autem genuit Saddoc Saddoc autem genuit Achim Achim autem genuit Eliud |
15 | And Eliud begot Eleazar. And Eleazar begot Mathan. And Mathan begot Jacob. | Eliud autem genuit Eleazar Eleazar autem genuit Matthan Matthan autem genuit Iacob |
16 | And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. | Iacob autem genuit Ioseph virum Mariae de qua natus est Iesus qui vocatur Christus |
17 | So all the generations from Abraham to David, are fourteen generations. And from David to the transmigration of Babylon, are fourteen generations: and from the transmigration of Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations. | omnes ergo generationes ab Abraham usque ad David generationes quattuordecim et a David usque ad transmigrationem Babylonis generationes quattuordecim et a transmigratione Babylonis usque ad Christum generationes quattuordecim |
18 | Now the generation of Christ was in this wise. When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child, of the Holy Ghost. | Christi autem generatio sic erat cum esset desponsata mater eius Maria Ioseph antequam convenirent inventa est in utero habens de Spiritu Sancto |
19 | Whereupon Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing publicly to expose her, was minded to put her away privately. | Ioseph autem vir eius cum esset iustus et nollet eam traducere voluit occulte dimittere eam |
20 | But while he thought on these things, behold the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in his sleep, saying: Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her, is of the Holy Ghost. | haec autem eo cogitante ecce angelus Domini in somnis apparuit ei dicens Ioseph fili David noli timere accipere Mariam coniugem tuam quod enim in ea natum est de Spiritu Sancto est |
21 | And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name Jesus. For he shall save his people from their sins. | pariet autem filium et vocabis nomen eius Iesum ipse enim salvum faciet populum suum a peccatis eorum |
22 | Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which the Lord spoke by the prophet, saying: | hoc autem totum factum est ut adimpleretur id quod dictum est a Domino per prophetam dicentem |
23 | Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. | ecce virgo in utero habebit et pariet filium et vocabunt nomen eius Emmanuhel quod est interpretatum Nobiscum Deus |
24 | And Joseph rising up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took unto him his wife. | exsurgens autem Ioseph a somno fecit sicut praecepit ei angelus Domini et accepit coniugem suam |
25 | And he knew her not till she brought forth her first born son: and he called his name Jesus. | et non cognoscebat eam donec peperit filium suum primogenitum et vocavit nomen eius Iesum |
