Prayer for all freepers in harms way and also to re route this hurricane back out to the ocean and fade away!
And know, a little item from the past:
Old timers will remember Drstevej as the spiritual leader of the GRPL.
Newbies: you don't know what you missed.
They sure don't.
Sometimes ignorance is bliss. :O)
Soli Deo Gloria
Prayers for him and his family. I was concerned about him last year, too.
Thank you Gamecock, for the update is he near Baton Rouge?
It should be sometime before we are able have another report of how Steve & family is doing!
Keep us posted thank you!
He is indeed near Baton Rouge.
Has Romulus checked in? Please send our prayers to him and Askel5 (who is greatly missed).
DrSteve, tie down the kids and stay away from the windows.
Prayers to God that He protect all those in the path of this terrible storm.
The Lord be with all affected.
Let the cajun pope know we are thinking of him.
Prayers for all in the way of the storm.
Drstevej, if you read this, we are sending prayers for you and yours.
All,
DrStevej and family are well. He contacted me via email. He is on battery power and his dialup account is working. He lost a tree and part of a fence. Otherwise all is well.
Thanks for the prayers and concern.
Praise the Lord!

GOOD NEWS!!!
GODSPEED!
Thank you Gamecock, so much for your update!
I feel the many freepers and nation prayers has helped to demote Kat 5 to a 4, and re route it in another direction as it continued to discipate, it has been in the past some times hurricanes can pick-up speed!
Many have experience a Horrendous experience and will continue for days to comes which still need prayers to sustain them to endur!
Glad to hear Drstevej you and your family are safe!:)
Prayers needed, this is from the levee break thread, fatima.
Actually the information I have is that the levee break happened on the 17th street canal where the new bridge (old hammond highway?) was just built. I have a sneaking suspicion that the bridge construction compromised the integrity of the levee there. Last night all the info I had was that Lake Vista (AKA the bird streets) were dry but below Robert E. Lee (Lakeview etc) were flooding from the breech. Until very recently, Old Metairie was dry. Just saw a post on one of the NO boards (NOLA or WWLTV can't remember) from a guy who parents were in their house on Farnham in Country Club Gardens - dry until this AM - and the water is now coming up into the houses there including Northline, even though supposedly the breech happened on the Orleans side of 17 st. canal. Cemeteries, of course, are now flooded. Damn. I thought our property had made it. But with water continuing to rise (an inch an hour), it isn't likely. The gutwrenching frustration not being able to know what's going on there is absolutely excruciating.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and concern. I am safe, as are all my family. We all evacuated Sunday. I brought icons, a gun, family pictures, my cat and dog, and the clothes on my back. Not much more. I expect my home and office to be flooded, as of this morning, and don't know when I'll be allowed to return.
I have been inconvenienced, to say the least, but am not suffering like many innocents who're in the midst of it now. Please remember them in your prayers.
I have no news of Askel, but because she had plans to be out of town anyway, I have good hopes that she did not return to the city on Sunday, and may be staying with family elsewhere.
And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD." -- Jonah 2:1-9"Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,
