Prayer for the Election of a Pope - Lord God, you are our eternal shepherd and guide. In your mercy grant your Church a shepherd who will walk in your ways and whose watchful care will bring us your blessing. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (Collect, Mass for the Election of a Pope, Roman Missal)

Such an early ballot suggests Ratzinger as well.

Someone made that point earlier.

Nope...one of two that weren't. I think Cardinal Sin was the other one that wasn't.

Ratzinger and Baum were the only Cardinals in the conclave not named by JPII.

Ratzinger and Baum -- plus Sin who was too ill to attend the conclave.

Thanks....after JPII died, I read about the Cardinals. My brain must be slick because I've just about forgotten all I read!

This is exciting. My husband just called and asked me to call him as soon as we know who it will be.

I was five the last time a Pope was elected, so this is the most exciting thing! My six year old is watching Fox News because she is so interested in what's going on!

Habemus Papum--Deo Gratias!
