Was he named a Cardinal by JPII? Ratzinger and Baum were the only Cardinals in the conclave not named by JPII.

Nope...one of two that weren't. I think Cardinal Sin was the other one that wasn't. Ratzinger and Baum -- plus Sin who was too ill to attend the conclave.
