Prayer for the Election of a Pope - Lord God, you are our eternal shepherd and guide. In your mercy grant your Church a shepherd who will walk in your ways and whose watchful care will bring us your blessing. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (Collect, Mass for the Election of a Pope, Roman Missal)

If the smoke is white, you've got it right.

I wonder how many days it will take to choose a Pope? What do the betting sites say?

You're right. I'll just say a prayer or something. I'm a Catholic from the old school. I don't care what somebody says about me but don't talk against my faith! I'll just sit and steam!LOL!

I kind of suspected that quote wasn't exactly right. Anyway, although I still don't think it may have been the wisest thing to say, especially to secular media, I think I can understand what she meant by it.

In any event, "charity covereth a multitude of sins", and we know she had that in abundance.

S'far as I can tell, ballots will be burned at 6am and 1pm Eastern Daylight Time, 6 hour time difference.

See ya in 5:38.

Our sources in Rome indicate to us that this election shall be decided by a split vote between the two strongest conservative caucuses.

We find, based upon this inside information and the aggregate stratifications of the field, that the next Bishop of Rome will most probably be Angelo Scola, most probably on the seventh ballot.

LOL is right.
Breathtaking.
Our sources in Rome tell us the conclave is secret.
Good to know you Episcopalians are privy to our stuff.

And I think it will be tomorrow as votes are cast. At the least, it gives us a chance to bounce some ideas around.

Just about 7:30 in Rome...The first full day of the Conclave is beginning.

Lord,
as your servants gather together
seeking your will,
enlighten their hearts
and minds,
until they as one,
open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit
follow where you lead.

Amen.

That's a GREAT excerpt. It sheds a lot of light where the media deliberately left ambiguity.

What's happening right now on EWTN? It started at 2 AM EST and it's Solemn Mass for the Election of the new Pontiff. But then halfway through the put the "encore" tag on it. Is it from yesterday? MSNBC and FOX have the live shots of the chimney right now. It felt suspicious because I thought after the first vote they are sequestered so I am guessing it is from yesterday and the Cardinals are already in the Sistine Chapel voting now.

I know it's real early!!
