The bishops have apparently now voted Bishop Trautman as head of the Bishops Committee on the Liturgy. This is horrible, horrible news for those of us who are more traditional on matters liturgical. In this America article, Bishop Trautman expresses his views about the wretched oppression Rome is visiting upon the Church with its attempts to reform the liturgy.
Arian hereasy was worse, but not by much.
Correct order of battle:
1) The Cross-bearer (solid silver Crucifix) leads the procession, crucifix held high.
2) On his right and left, candle-bearers.
3) Behind, a censer-bearer at full swing. Arc should be 170 degrees, straight back-to-front.
4) Three dozen fatigue-clad MEN with MP-5's set to 'full auto.' Occasional bursts should be fired by random weapons-bearers.
5) Behind them, four dozen MEN with fatigues, chains, and padlocks to take the 48 remaining rebellious snakes to the
6) Tomas Torquemada Gentlemen's Club members, robed, with medallions-of-office and walking staffs, hatless (for now.)
The procession, with rat-Bishops in tow (or drag, if you prefer) exits the conference room, leaving behind 4 of the MP-5-bearers to guard the door.
TTGC membership then commences its business with bonfire-building.
Ladies' Auxiliary, hatted, serves cucumber sandwiches and passes hat for donations.
At the Order of the Grand Inquisitor (BlackElk), the enchained ones are bar-b-qued.
Don't forget the Holy Water.
That was me. I can't believe this crap. If there ever is a reason to involk St. Michael's protection for our Church, now is the time.
Watching the press conference on EWTN (rerun). Interesting news:
Who is Kathleen McChesney? Does she have something to do with the child protection advisement in the USCCB? She is stepping down, I understand.
What burns me is that there is "free" time where the bishops discuss policy where there are no cameras watching them. They say "this is where we get the most done." Dirtly little poof-twits are doing their damage here, where they can't be watched!
The Holy See though, best be holding their light feet to the fire as their ruling was on them for 2002.
On a side note, another soldier from the legion liturgical abuse, Fr. Fruitcake...er...Fr. Fraggomeni... is coming back to St. Andrew's in January. Might be a good night to hold a rosary outside the church doors.
There was a "voting glitch" during the electonic vote between Trautman, Rigali, and Venerant (sp). The first votes where automatically invalid, because of of "blinking lights."
They used a WRITE IN system for chossing the bishop for this office (liturgy).
For the next vote for Chairman of Marraige and family life, the electronic vote system magically worked again!
Now something REALLY stinks!
In light of all the crappy news we've heard about these nominations, our wonderful Bishop of Phoenix Most Rev. Thomas Olmstead was nominated for Chairman of Priestly Formation!
We've had some wonderful new priests come into our diocese in the last couple of years. If he's going to head this Chair for the next three years, there IS hope!
This is awesome news!
"Its time for trads to get militantly evangelistic!"
By all means YES! Had you been militantly evangelistic I may have found you sooner. ; )
"What's next? Animal sacrifice?"
Don't joke. There's a bishop (Buti Thlagale) in South Africa who strongly endorses animal sacrifices during the Mass - and not just small animals either - sheep, goats and even cows are regularly slaughtered on the altar and the blood mixed in the chalice as part of the offertory.
Other than animal sacrifices, Thlagale is also a big supporter of contraceptives as director of a Planned Parenthood affiliate called "Lovelife" and an arch-ecumaniac (on the organizing committee of the World Council of Churches).
Guess what Rome did to this bishop?
He was just recently promoted to archbishop to head the largest see in Southern Africa.
You've got the right idea! :o)
I'd love to give them a swift kick right in their big fat ex cathedras!
In my Archdiocese, the "Archbishop's Appeal" isn't voluntary. If the Parishes don't cough up their assigned $$, it comes out of the Parishes general operating fund.
Also, the 10% of our regular collections which already goes to the Archdiocese, has been upped to 15 or 20% to pay for "stuff". (I think that means sexual abuse lawsuits).
We interrupt this thread to announce that The Hollywood Reporter currently features 2 stories on Mel Gibson -- one interview with Mel and another Q & A with Mel and his business partner Bruce Davey. All rabid Mel-Babes should exit this thread immediately and link to

Cardinal Egan was a priest from Chicago, went to school in Rome, came back and was secretary to the Cardinal before Cody. Worked for Cody for two or three years and went to Rome in 1973. He was there until 1985 when he was installed as a bishop in the New York diocese. He and Bernardin never worked together at all. I wrote all this up when Egan became archbishop of New York. At that time I had more info on the other Egan at hand.
While I don't particularly like Cardinal Egan and I wish he would have done many things differently, and it is possible that he is a homosexual protector and a schmoozer of the very rich and powerful, his connection to the Chicago gang and Bernardin in particular is misplaced. He is not that Egan. We are in a greaat battle in both the natural and supernatural worlds,it is imperative that we always seek, find, tell and live the truth.
Now if there is some information that is contrary to anything I have posted please let me know because to commit error to paper results in more confusion and we all know who benefits from that.
In all the parishes I'm familiar with, there's a second collection. The first is for the parish, and the second could be for the parish school, archdiocese, or NCCB. There's more of an opportunity to know where the money's going.
Worth looking up: I believe I read that according to Canon Law, the individual has a right to make donations specifically earmarking the money for a specific purpose, and the pastor is obligated to spend the money only on that purpose. Don't quote me on this - it would have to be checked.
If I were to organize a large grassroots movement to stop funding bad bishops, the first thing I'd do is get myself a good Canon Lawyer.
Canon Law spells out certain rights belonging to the faithful. It would be an excellent idea to learn what these rights are, and exercise them freely. Unfortunately, they don't teach you these things in Catholic school.
Anyway, if this earmarking of monetary contributions is one of these rights, there would be a way to make the contribution to the parish, so that the Archdiocese, according to Canon Law, wouldn't be able to touch it.
Something to consider.
Cardinal Eagan is my Archbishop. I thought he came from a diocese in Connecticut.
I agree that he hasn't done enough. As far as I know, he hasn't challenged one pro abortion polititian regarding the reception of Holy Communion. He may have, but I haven't heard anything about it if he has.
I don't think much of his schmoozing with pro abotion politicos at the annual Al Smith dinner. I may be wrong, but this is the impression I've gotten about him.
I also want to carefully qualify my statements, because I don't want to spread error.
Bernardin, and his "Common Ground" initiative, was a blot on the Church, as far as I'm concerned.
For the record,he came back from Rome, was made an auxiliary in New York and three years later went to Bridgeport Conn. as Bishop. He was returned to New York on the death of Cardinal O'Conner.
Cardinal Bernardin, standing on "common ground" garbed in his "seamless garment" is responsible for placing many anti-church bishops in position over a period of many years. Very few that he touched were not sullied. If he was involved with a priest or bishop, one must watch that person twice as closely as any other membr of the clergy. It is almost a sure fire way to determine orthodoxy without without looking at what they do or listening to what they say. They willnot be Catholic, they will not be orthodox.(sarc)
Thor frequently intimates that Egan and Bernardin were connected in Chicago but the data shows otherwise. There was another Monsignor Edward Egan who was from Chicago and worked closely with Bernardin and I think Thor 76 confuses them. I don't think it''s fair to impugn Egan for a relationship that wasn't,his deficiencies can stand on his own shoulders.
Thanks for your input.
You are right about the truly wonderful, orthodox young priests we have here. i am sure that Bishop Olmsted knows that it all started with that wonderful vocations director from St. Mary's,Chandler.
And the Laatin Mass is finally getting the wobblies out of it's legs,we are blessed.
I take it no book will be carried in this procession?
Is chant in order? (not today, though, Desde has the singers plague)
