Alarm in Italy as growth of Satanism creates “market” for consecrated hosts

ROME, Italy, Jul. 15, 2004 (CNA) - Fr. Aldo Buonaiuto, director of an “emergency help line” that assists young people wanting to get out of satanic cults, expressed alarm this week at the growth of Satanism, which has created a “market” for consecrated hosts in Italy.

In statements published in the Catholic magazine Famiglia Cristiana, Fr. Buonaiuto explained that “a proliferation of cults exists which practice black masses, with the profanation of consecrated hosts, rape and torture.”

“We know of cases of consensual vampirism, and also the assaulting of young people who have been drugged in the course of ritualistic orgies.”

According to Fr. Buonaiuto, “A true ‘market’ for consecrated hosts exists. They sell for 80-500 euros, depending on the size of the host, the prominence of the church from which they were stolen, and who consecrated them.”

“The highest price is placed on those that are consecrated in the churches of Rome, above all those closest to the Vatican.  They are stolen in two ways: from the tabernacle, but also at the time of Holy Communion,” he said.

“Some cults perform rituals with the consecrated hosts while under the influence of LSD or cocaine, led frequently by ex-priests who have offered themselves in the service of Satan,” he told Famiglia Cristiana.

According to Fr. Buonaiuto, the proliferation of these cults is very much connected with “the loss of the sense of the sacred.”  “Man needs to fill himself with something, and today the market is full of superficial alternatives, among them, Satanism,” he concluded.

How come when anyone descrates a Roman Catholic church, it is a direct attack from Satan, but when it is a non RC church, it is just "kids playing pranks".

Hold on there. The topic of this thread is Satanism is creating a “market” for consecrated hosts. My point is the only place they can get them is the Catholic, and as MarMema pointed out, Orthodox Church.

I will agree that any desecration of a Christian Church is an attack of Satan. However, Satanist don’t go to Protestant Churches to steal their crackers.

Agree that we REMEMBER His death, but we celebrate the finished work by praying to a risen savior.

Many men have died on a cross, the victory is in the resurrection.

It just struck me that someone said to pray to Christ on the cross, when today He is no longer on the cross but seated at the right hand of the Father.
There is no more Jesus on the cross.

See my post 40.

It is Friday, I haven't had my coffee, and I fired a shot off without thinking.

Just goes to show that even Satanists believe in the true presence. Pity those that do not.

Oh, right, the question.... yeah, that's the question.

Do you suppose the final battle has begun? I think it has. I posted a prophecy of the 17th century Catholic, Venerable Bartholomew Holzhauser the other day that I find quite interesting.

As a Catholic I ask: Why don’t these satanic cults use the crackers from Protestant services?

LOL! I think you already know the answer to that one.

protestant traditionalists? Isn't that a bit of an oxymoron?

The old story goes that a SBC pastor was asked what the role of tradition was in his denomination. He answered with a twinkle in his eye, "We don't have any; tradition is not part of the historical practices of our church."

We have a crisis in the church and the world today. We need 27,000,000 Catholics within the United States to commit themselves to pray one rosary each day specifically for repentance and conversion throughout our country. Father Roy J. Oggero, C.S.B., writes:

I want to suggest praying the Rosary daily. It is the Prayer of Peace. You can pray out anger, envy, bitterness, unforgiveness, fear, anxiety; and the opposite of these begin to come into your life. There is a story Father Albert Shaman, a priest of the Rochester, New York Diocese, tells. It is the story of Austria’s great Rosary Crusade that liberated the country from Soviet control. At the end of WW2, the victorious allies pulled out of Austria and left it in Soviet hands. After three years of tyranny the Austrian people could no longer bear the Communist control. Father Peurus remembered the story of how the Ottoman Turks were defeated at Lepanto in 1591, though the Christians were outnumbered three to one. - The Rosary was prayed by all the men and the Turks were defeated, so Father Peurus called for a Rosary Crusade against the occupying Soviets. He asked for ten percent of the population to pray the Rosary everyday. That would be 700,000 Austrians. He got the 700,000 and for seven years the Rosary was prayed every day. On May 13, 1955, the anniversary of the Fatima Apparitions, the Russians withdrew from Austria. Their evacuation made no sense since Austria was a real war prize. To this day many historians are baffled by the pullout. I mention this event to simply remind us that prayer is very powerful, and especially the Rosary. The choice to experience this power is yours and mine. I pray all of us will say "YES" to the Holy Spirit more often and pray the Rosary.Message given to the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus in Bishop John L. Morkovsky Assembly - August 1995. Printed with permission.

If 700,000 men (one tenth of the population of Austria at the time) praying the rosary every day for seven years helped deliver Austria from the Russians, then can we not believe that prayer still works miracles today?

To duplicate the Rosary Crusade in the United States of America, 27,000,000 Catholics (one tenth of the entire population) must commit to pray the rosary daily for seven years. This rosary should be in addition to any other rosary you may be praying, UNLESS you are already committed to a Rosary Crusade. Just add this intention to yours. This Rosary Crusade’s intention is for the repentance and conversion of all people and the healing of our land. In addition to praying the rosary and in order to overcome any evil forces that would disrupt this Rosary Crusade, it is important to pray the Prayer Against Satan & the Rebellious Angels by Pope Leo XIII aloud daily.

There is no more Jesus on the cross.

I believe the poster meant to pray before the crucifix, recalling what Christ suffered for us.

Prayer Before a Crucifix

Look down upon me, good and gentle Jesus, while before Thy face I humbly kneel, and with burning soul I pray and beseech Thee to fix deep in my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope and charity, true contrition for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment; while I contemplate with great love and tender pity Thy five wounds, pondering over them within me, having in mind the words which David Thy prophet said of Thee, my Jesus: "They pierced my hands and my feet; they numbered all my bones."

I have a serious question on this.

If the bread is transformed by a miracle of God into the body of Christ, and if it is only the body of Christ while it remains in the form of bread and wine, couldn't God cause a consecrated host to be just bread again?

We normally pass the plate(s). Sometimes in a smaller setting we have people come forward to the Communion Table and take the elements.

***Exactly once we had a service where the congregation formed a queue and recieved directly from the pastor.***

I have no objection to this except as it conveys the requirement for a pastor to distribute the elements.

LOL! That is humorous. Kind shows the fact that avoiding traditions is impossible, even if your church is supposedly founded on the lack thereof.

I did find this, which is also scary.

Unnerving, to say the least.

Question: In the Russian Orthodox, is communion by intinction? Do you use leavened or unleavened bread?

I know that I am not going to articulate this the way I truly feel but here it goes:

I believe that "I" have no merit. I believe that if there is any good in me, it is because of our Lord Jesus causing it to be there, i.e. good works, etc. NYer knows that as Catholics we DO NOT recrucify Jesus, but we present the sacrifice to God the Father at every mass, because Jesus told us to, i.e. "Do this in memory of me".

Because of his awesome sacrifice on the cross, which none can really comprehend, I pray or offer any sort of sacrifice (fasting, prayer, good works, etc) and unite it to Jesus on the Cross of two thousand years ago and offer it to the Father. I believe my little sacrifice will be made "big" because it's united to Jesus. And I want it "big" because its always offered up for the conversion of sinners. Thats all I really care about.

Now with this said, I have no desire to get into confrontations about the differences between Catholicism and Protestantism. I merely wanted to explain myself, that is it, and I am pretty sure NYer and my fellow catholics understand.

Seems this should be posted in the general news forum, but thanks for doing so. May not be too good for "San Franciscans" to read it, though.

No!

Can I ask why not?

It seems when I ask how such and such could be true , I am told that all things are possible with God .

If that is a general tenet of Catholicism ( and the explanation on how the host becomes the body of Christ, or how the saints or Mary can hear the prayer of every person at the same time,) then why could not God act to restore the bread to its original substance?

BTW You know I do not agree with the doctrine of the "real presence" , but non the less I find it an abomination that the hosts be stolen or desecrated
