What... did you think "micro surgery" was some kind of dirty joke?

What do I know?

The verses spoke for themselves, the concordance and lexicon just drive the point home.

This is at least the second time you are going to regret not checking the context of a word you look up in a concordance. And I do mean regret of the sincerest kind.

When I looked at the passage surrounding the verse you quoted in Colossians 2, my eyes first got big as saucers and then I did a little chuckle and then a full belly laugh. What I will allow you to do, is to retract this verse without discussing it and allow you to salvage some shred of dignity. We can then discuss the 1 Corinthians verse.

Naw. I got fixed as an infant. I've been quiet because I think the argument is silly. God will have mercy on whom He will have mercy. Simple as that. I'm just entertained by all the little gods trying to decide for Him.

Do you believe God is smart enough that if He had wanted to make sure there were no misunderstandings concerning His plan of salvation, He could have had it written in such a way there could be no debating over what He was saying or meant?

CD, my son who lives here in Florida was at Brownsville two weeks ago at a meeting.

He had originally planned on riding his Harley there and flying back.

He said he was trying to hook up with some Christian bikers who were coming to Florida to ride his bike back for him, but I think he ended up riding it back himself.

He was amazed at the nice beaches you have in that area. He said he drove through Beaumont where he had started 1st grade in 1962 before we moved to Jasper. I had forgotten he had gone to school there for a short time. (((((Small world))))))

Good idea. Get some sleep. Maybe you'll come up with something less condescending tommorrow.

The beaches are very nice but I think the white sands and clear water on Floridas gulf side prettier. My problem with South Padre Island is that the city let the hotels and richo condo owners build on the ocean and port side. You could drive thru and never see the ocean. It's a lot of tourist stuff. When we go out there we drive thru the city to outside limits. I like the way Corpus and Galveston set up. Most of the buildings and homes on the west side. You can drive by the ocean and have easy access to the beaches.

"I think we agree that when God did this that it was a picture of Salvation. If so, where was Adam's choice in the matter? "

Genesis 3 is an excellent passage. May I add something to it.

Genesis 3 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. 8 They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, " Where are you?" 10 He said, "I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself." 11 And He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?"

Here we see that Adam knew he was naked (a sinner) and he knew this of his own accord, God did not tell him. Adam even tried to cover himself up in his own clothing (works), but even with those he still felt naked and the need to hide himself. From this we see, I believe, that Adam's knowledge of his nakedness led him to realize his need for the clothing which God gave to him.

JM

That was a great post! You see JonnnyM when you give the calvinists an answer like this one, they disappear ksen went on to post to Dave later on in the day and never even addressed this post, he CAN"T refute it. Great answer.

You Know You Might Be Lutheran if...

...in response to someone jumping up and shouting "Praise the Lord!", you politely remind him that we don't do that around here.

...you make change for a ten in the offering plate.

...you think butter is a spice.

...you think hotdish is one of the major food groups.

...your five-year-old recites the Old Testament books as Genesis, Exodus, Lutefisk...

...you hear something really funny and smile as loud as you can.

.. you pronounce the word Lutheran "Lutern."

...you have more than five flavors of Jell-O in your pantry.

...your congregation's first two operating rules are "Don't change" and "Don't spend."

...you're 57 years old and your parents still won't let you date a Catholic.

...you are referred to as the frozen chosen.

...everyone in your family graduated from a school named Concordia.

...Ole and Lena are really the names of your relatives.

--------------

Lena:    "Ole, stant in front of da car and tell me if da turn signals are vorking."

Ole:  "Yes, No, Yes, No, Yes, No, Yes, No...."

In a hospital one day are two little boys lying on stretchers, waiting to be taken to the operating theatre.

The first boy says to the second "What are you in for?"

He replies "I'm having my tonsils out"

"Oh that's not too bad" reassures the first "they just put you to sleep, then when you wake up they give you lots of jelly and ice-cream!"

The second little boy then asks the first what he's in for. "A circumcision," he replies.

The second boy says "I had that when I was born, I couldn't walk for a year!"

I heard about a guy that got his circumcision done at Sears.
Now every time he gets excited, his garage door opens.

Mom your are just being plain old mean, it has nothing to do with Christianity, you're twisting Cindys words to mean what you want them to mean so you can just be nasty, anybody can see that.

Do you talk to people like this in real life? I don't think you do, so why do feel you can do it here?

Dave, I had a dream last night that Al, Steven, Mack, Becky, Reggie and I dropped in unannounced at your favorite local pub. In my dream, Steven knew where to find you, because he had visited there before.

If it was a pub al_c knew just right where it was and he told Steven just in case he was too drunk to remember.

Is this a "sign"? ;o)

Yes it is, if you hadn't woke up before the dream had ended you would of seen that we all stopped by to pick up Dave who was handing out Chick track's at the pub it was a Wen night, and then we all went to church down at the Independent Fundamental Bible Believing Church and at the end of the service you, Steven and OLD REGGIE went down for the alter call and accepted JESUS as your savior (REGGIE admitted Jesus was God) and after that Dave and al_c (who had just renounced the Catholic church and joined the IFBC) led everyone in the hymn "Bringing in the sheaves" and closed with "Kum bye yah"

If the "Christians" on this thread were as anxious to clean off the heresies of some of the posters here as they are to ward off the Calvinists, may be there would have been space and time to teach Steve.

When will you quit talking out of both sides of your mouth?

I've been lurking on their threads for years and they post this kind of stuff all the time, and then the next post dive right back into the flower bed of TULIPS, I just set back and laugh. :)
