More like honor like this
John 26: When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! 27: Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

Does it not stand to reason that God would choose to be born of a woman 'conceived without sin'.
No. He didn't spend His life in a sin free bubble. He spent it with sinners. That's why He came.

As we are all commanded to honor our earthly mothers. Jesus was in all things sinless and the perfect example.

I agree. The Lutheran church has traditionally had a strong attachment to Mary as the Mother of our Lord, and as a perfect example of obedience. After Vatican I, the tend has been to minimize Mary. Still, many "old school" LCMS churches still celebrate a few feasts for Mary.

This is a notion for which I find no biblical support. I find no biblical support for you Bible only perspective :)

Luther didn't object to the Immaculate Conception.
"It is a sweet and pious belief that the infusion of Mary's soul was effected without original sin; so that in the very infusion of her soul she was also purified from original sin and adorned with God's gifts, receiving a pure soul infused by God; thus from the first moment she began to live she was free from all sin."
(Sermon: "On the Day of the Conception of the Mother of God," December [?] 1527; from Hartmann Grisar, S.J., Luther, authorised translation from the German by E.M. Lamond; edited by Luigi Cappadelta, London: Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner, first edition, 1915, Vol. IV [of 6], p. 238; taken from the German Werke, Erlangen, 1826-1868, edited by J.G. Plochmann and J.A. Irmischer, 2nd ed. edited by L. Enders, Frankfurt, 1862 ff., 67 volumes; citation from 152, p. 58)
"She is full of grace, proclaimed to be entirely without sin- something exceedingly great. For God's grace fills her with everything good and makes her devoid of all evil."
(Personal {"Little"} Prayer Book, 1522)

Somehow I don't think that the Lord would have a problem with us honoring His mother in the way that He did.
Agreed. Now if you will post the Scriptural references you must be speaking of........

"Luther was wrong here."
What if Luther knew of a scriptural precedent for an "immaculate conception" which you had not recognized as such?
To: Tantumergo
Sorry, I didn't follow your question.

I'm just speculating that maybe Luther didn't find the idea of an "immaculate conception" as unscriptural, because he knew of another clearly attested case of it in scripture!
After all, if it is established that God does occasionally work in this manner, then it would be less difficult to believe that He had done the same for the Mother of His Son.
To: Tantumergo
Who else was immaculately conceived. Drop the riddles and tell me what your point might be.

It is also possible that Mary is in heaven crying over the way she has been presented in Catholic theology. Anything is possible with God
It is impossible for God to contradict Himself. The GodMan Jesus established the Catholic Church and sent the Holy Spirt upon it to dwell in the Catholic Church until the end of time and this indwelling enables the Catholic Church to teach, sanctify and rule the faithful in the name of Christ which means the Catholic Church does the will of its Divine founder Jesus and which also means the Catholic Church is incapable of teaching error.
Luke 10:16 He that heareth you heareth me: and he that despiseth you despiseth me: and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.
Dr, it isn't wise to reject the Teaching of the Catholic Church which Jesus established to Teach in His name.
Using the Bible, show me where Jesus said the Church He established would teach error?
The very question unmasks the fundamental insanity (I am being charitable and not using "evil") of any of the opponents of the Catholic Church's Doctrine. Jesus promised He would be with the Catholic Church untl the end of time. He called the Catholic Church His Bride. And Jesus saith to them: Can the children of the marriage fast, as long as the bridegroom is with them? Jesus doesn't lie nor is he a spiritual fornicator. He hasn't abandoned His Bride nor is He whoring around with another woman (Church).
I hope you are enjoying your Christmastide
