WASHINGTON, D.C., OCT. 22, 2003 (Zenit.org).- Campion College of Washington, a two-year Catholic core curriculum program, plans to open its doors next September.
The new college is patterned after Campion College of San Francisco, California, which opened last month. Robert Royal of the Faith & Reason Institute will be president of the new school.
Both Campion Colleges offer a "Great Books" curriculum and offer an associate degree in Catholic humanities.
"Campion students will be prepared to go on to a variety of different institutions," says Royal. "They can continue their work at a Catholic university or prepare themselves for careers in law, medicine, science, journalism or business, confident that they have an authentic Catholic grounding."
The 2004 freshman class will accept about 15 to 30 students. Theology, philosophy, literature, history and general culture form the core curriculum. Special courses in science and languages are available, plus summer programs in Austria and Rome. Ave Maria University, the Franciscan University of Steubenville, and the International Theological Institute of Gaming, Austria, will accept transfer credits from the new college.
A full program description may be found at www.campiondc.org or through Dennis Bartlett at (800) 375-8390 or dnabic@aol.com.

Washington DC already has a bunch of colleges including at least two well-established Catholic colleges -- Catholice University of America and Georgetown University.

Catholic University is not the den of heresy it once was, but Georgetown is a dogmatic disaster area. In the mid 1990s, during a campus-wide renovation, there was considerable controversy over whether or not putting crucifixes in all the classrooms was a good idea, or an act of "hate" with regard to non-Christian students...
The idea here, along with the new Ave Maria University in Florida and Christendom College in Virginia is to have a Catholic College which is actually Catholic.

Alls I know is that they are putting together more information and gearing up for battle. I haven't heard too much else.
