Mansoor Ijaz on Greta Van Suesteren - Al Qaeda Planning on Hijacking Super Tankers!
Fox News - On the Record with Greta Van Susteren ^ | 10 Oct 03 | Mansoor Ijaz

Posted on 10/10/2003 8:05:38 PM PDT by Alas Babylon!

Mansoor Ijaz was on Greta's show, he gave a detailed analysis about some very disturbing accounts on the various sea lanes. He mentioned that the Straits of Mollucca, between Singapore, Indonesia, and Maylasia have always been a hotbed of piracy, but recent events have raised alarms. It seems like many ships have been hijacked in the last few months by Islamic radicals but rather than stealing the cargo or kidnapping the crews these terrorists have just wanted to know how to steer the big ships! He compared this to the 9/11 terrorists going to the various flight schools only wanting to know how to fly big jets--not wanting to land them.

Further, he mentioned that in this same area about 12 (?) tug boats have been pirated and have now dissappeared. He is concerned that they could be used to haul or pull a larger ship into position to cause some atrocity in one of our harbors. He also mentioned that several diving experts have been contacted to teach Islamicists on how to swim unnoticed underwater. Demolition charges planned?

He discussed with Greta his thoughts on all this. Is Al Qaeda planning another 9/11, but this time using large ships or super tankers to blow up an American city? He also stated that ships disabled or destroyed in certain waters could destroy the economies of many nations, such as the straits between the Agean and Black seas in Turkey, the Straits of Hourmuz in the Persian Gulf, the Straits of Gibraltar, etc, etc.

Someone ask this guy about his role in the Danny Pearl affair.

Just mouth a few anti Clinton platitudes, and you too, can be the object of idol worship by gullible naivetes.

The Daniel Pearl Case - Curiouser and curiouser, Murky and murkier!

Two prominent personalities from the USA, not belonging to the world of terrorists, who figure in the statement made to the Police by Khalid Khwaja, a retired Air Force officer who had worked in the ISI till 1988 and who was reportedly in touch with Osama bin Laden, are Mansur Ijaz, an American lobbyist of Pakistani origin, and James Woolsey, former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and a close personal friend of Ijaz.

Khwaja, who is related to Gilani, is reported to have told the Police that Ijaz and Woolsey had been in touch with him since September 11, 2001, and had sought his assistance for persuading Mulla Mohammad Omar, the Amir of the Taliban, to hand over bin Laden to the USA for trial. In the beginning of January,2002, Pearl had rung him up and sought his assistance for meeting Gilani. Pearl told him that Ijaz had recommended that he (Pearl) should contact him (Khwaja). Khwaja claimed that he had turned down Pearl's request.

According to the statement of Khwaja, he came to know after the murder of Pearl that the "Newsweek" was going to carry negative references to him (Khwaja) in its report on the murder. He immediately rang up Ijaz and conveyed his concern to him. Khwaja alleged that Ijaz rang him up later and told him that he had persuaded the "Newsweek" to tone down, if not delete the references to him.

Did Ijaz tell Khwaja that Pearl was Jewish and that his parents were Israeli nationals? Did the interest taken by Ijaz in helping Pearl meet well-informed people in the world of terrorism in Pakistan and his perceived proximity to Woolsey create fears in the minds of the terrorists and the ISI that Pearl was being used by the CIA to smoke out bin Laden and collect information about bin Laden's continuing contacts with the Pakistani military-intelligence establishment?

I meant that WE - THE USA - would use the planes and bombs on the ships .. not the terrorists. Sorry for the confusion.

I mean .. after all .. the supertankers are not armed ships .. and the terrorists would only have such armor as they could bring onboard at the time of seizure.

I know the oil leak would upset the envirwhackos .. but blowing up a harbor would cause even more damage.

"Cruise ships, also, would not have the death toll numbers"

You're saying a cruise ship (possibly 2000) would NOT have a bigger death toll than other ships (crew of 50-100) - how do you figure that ..??

"Actually, super tankers aren't explosive."

Apparently you didn't see "Speed 2" with Sandra Bullock......

I meant, they could load up container ships with more bad stuff than they could a cruise ship. I was thinking in terms of cargo, what each of those containers could hold, and what could be unleashed on a city.

Well .. I don't agree. Oil doesn't ignite - it burns and makes lots of black smoke. Airplane fuel is a mixture which makes it ignite.

As for the "years" to rebuild .. I don't believe that. I remember after the Northridge earthquake in CA - several overpasses were damaged. One of them was a major interchange. I don't know the exact timeframe, but with a concerted effort (which is what Americans always do), the overpass was completed in record time. It was truly amazing.

How would they even know the ships had been taken over by terrorists? It's unlikely anyone would know unless some of the crew miraculously got a message out before being killed. It would look like any other third world rustbucket container ship.

Oh okay .. I see your point .. they might be able to inflict more death by crashing into a port versus taking a ship loaded with people. Is that correct ..??

"How about cruise ships ..??"

As one who has experienced a bout of "shipborne illness" while traveling on a cruise ship, I believe they will not bother with them.

The cruise lines are doing a fine job without their help. [/sarcasm]

Not really crashing. Simply docking it normally, waiting awhile, then detonating it while it sits in port--among, possibly, other ships carrying who knows what kind of cargo.

I'm trying to find a decent link to it. I know other FReepers remember it because it was the subject of a thread or two.

He completely lost his composure and said some things which made many doub his allegiances. The home page is a public 'key' for secure communications.

Look at post 48, particularly happy2bme's evaluation of his demeanor. I watched the interview, she is exactly correct.
