I meant that WE - THE USA - would use the planes and bombs on the ships .. not the terrorists. Sorry for the confusion.

I mean .. after all .. the supertankers are not armed ships .. and the terrorists would only have such armor as they could bring onboard at the time of seizure.

I know the oil leak would upset the envirwhackos .. but blowing up a harbor would cause even more damage.

How would they even know the ships had been taken over by terrorists? It's unlikely anyone would know unless some of the crew miraculously got a message out before being killed. It would look like any other third world rustbucket container ship.
