I'm pretty much with you on this one, Quinn. It's the hypocrisy so blatantly evident on these Rush threads that gets me.
I'm for full legalization, but as long as WOD-lovers try and paint Rush as something OTHER than a narcotics abuser, I will point out their hypocrisy.

He's not long-haired, maggot infested, nor is he dope smoking. he's addicted to PRESCRIPTION pain killers. He's not some homeless, wino living on the street or on the public hand-out. So a rich addict who can afford his drugs is better than a poor addict who can't?
The rich addict should get treatment while the poor addict should go to prison, huh?
To: Monty22
And it's just reality that drug rehab isn't some cureall. Well, it's not a magic bullet. The person has to put sincere effort into it.
Rush has a difficult time ahead of him, but at the same time, he's taking his first step on the road to a better life. He'll be fine in the long run.

whaddaya mean "a" thread - a safe prediction is that this will be a 'talking point' for every anti-WOD thread from here on out. I was hoping they'd start there own thread as to leave the rest of us be.

But prescrition meds are okay because they 1. are strictly controlled by the FDA, and 2. are one of the few industries left in this country. But Rush was allegedly buying them off the street, with no doctor oversight. Taking massive quantities of any drug that is bought off the street, even if its content is controlled by the FDA, is still drug abuse.
But I'm with you on point #2 - after the drug bill, drug companies will need to get any profits they can... ;)

So you're okay with coke addicts snorting to their heart's content, as long as you're not harmed by it? Please tell me where on this thread I have condoned Rush's prescription drug abuse?
You'll be looking for a very long time, IMO.
He has admitted that he has a problem and is trying to do something about it, and yet you want to kick him when he's down.
I am not going to kick him while he's down, to make a cheap political point, like you are wont to do, but what the hey you are a pro-drug Libertarian and you have freinds on the left, that is expected.
You are feasting at the red meat of political opportunity, no different than Bill and Hillary would do in the same situation, IMO.

Rush is a HYPOCRITE!
He was Illegally on prescription pain medication while condemning people who were on them like he was.

Severe back pain will drive Saints to drugs.
My back was injured some years back when someone ran a stop sign and smashed into the car I was driving. I had lower back pain and sciatica. The doctors gave me percodan. Great stuff! After a couple of weeks I was about to take another pill, I looked at it and the rest of them and flushed the stuff. Never took another or any pain pill again.

Overall, there's too much reliance on pills and it is only getting worse. I heard somebody on the radio the other day suggesting that pills would eventually be how we assimilate knowledge in general. That isn't right and it's important that we admit there is a difference between pills and God.

That is not the half of what they are spewing! My god they have such vile mouths! They hate him so much and hope that we will abandon him. They are deliriously happy that they won't have to hear him for 30 days. WHO TOLD THEM TO LISTEN? Well I have news for them. We won't abandon Rush! We will be right here waiting for him! A year from now after the monumental losses that the left suffers in the 04 elections, they'll be wailing and gnashing their teeth and asking how can it be that Rush Limbaugh is more popular than ever and how is it that conservatives didn't abandon him.
I almost feel sorry for the little cretins.

I thank God I never smoked . . . . . cigarettes. It is tougher than narcotics for some!
I'm still a little crazy ~ the difference is, I have it, it doesn't have me. :)
I am more than a little crazy but I know it!

I have a friend with chronic pain from back surgery and I see her struggle - it is a tough situation. I wish Rush the best. I'll say a prayer.

You are feasting at the red meat of political opportunity, no different than Bill and Hillary would do in the same situation, IMO. Yeah, you could never be accused of feasting on the red meat of political opportunity... {snort}.
I just have the belief that if it were, say, Bill or Hillary who was admitting an addiction to hillbilly heroin, the responses from the Rush-lovers would be decidedly different. Do you think that's an unfair conclusion?
