My pastor went through detox 3 times and was given up for dead by his doctors. That was 10 years ago, he is totally clean. So with the right attitude, help, and God's grace, you can find healing.
I hope and pray Rush looks back at this many years from now and says it was one of the best things that ever happened to him, because it forced him to truly face a problem that would eventually have killed him.
And I am going to miss him while he is gone, because despite his problems, there is only one Rush. You should write Rush and tell him this, or have your pastor write him.
It's a sad day, I suspected that this was going to be the case after the non denial from Rush last week.
I just had to explain to my 13yr old son about RUSH, he hadn't really heard any of this, and was pretty shocked at this revelation.
I think to Rush's credit, he never let this addiction show - this is just one of the many things that shock you in life.
I wish him well, I pray he recovers.

You quickly build up a resistance to them, and need 2 for the same effect as 1, then 4, etc etc
Your precription only gives you so many to take a week or month.
Rotating pain management meds with exercise, diet, etc works ok, but you still build tolerance up for the meds.

Rush made no excuses. He blamed no one. He took responsibility for what has occured and that means he's half way back already.Good point.

His surgery pain is not an excuse, and if Rush meant it when he said he is not a victim He says he's not a victim but uses the back surgery excuse at the same time? RB, if you are in recovery, you can smell that... And he does not sound good on the radio today at all. He's wavering in and out of a buzz. He used the back surgery not as an excuse but as reference point when he began using painkillers.
OH, YOU CAN TAKE THAT BACK TO DU WITH YOU.

My prayers are with Rush and his family. I can not imagine my life without Rush. Rush has always been on my radio since I was 18. I became a Republican because of him and find this whole situation to be very sad.
I'll be here for you when you get back, Rush.

Right, Sofa King.
You sound like you are in denial. Tell that to Rush, now. He's doing just fine. He's been through de-tox twice, lost his hearing, may be about to face prosecution, is about to be pilloried by the leftists who are going to delight in his comeuppance. And he's doing just fine. No downward spiral there.

Thanks, but AlAnon is the 12 step recovery program for friends and family members whose life has been affected by someone else's drinking. Alcoholics Anonymous is for the alcoholic.
The alcoholic that qualified me for membership in AlAnon has been clean and sober for 20 years and we have many friends who have been sober for that length of time or longer.

Thanks, Weeg. I was wracking my brain trying to remember who else I had seen recently discussing severe back pain -- it was Jerry. FReegards.

The show will continue during this time, of course, with an array of guest hosts you have come to know and respect. Not to make light of Rush's problems but I always have some tension when Rush is not at the microphone. It is a strange coincidence but big breaking news always seems to occur when he is not there (including the September 11th hijackings). It's just a coincidence but even Rush has observed it.
It's not that I believe that the hosts are not capable, it's just what "could happen" (it seems to tempt fate).
I was given some muscle relaxers for back pain associated with an accident (after 30 days the massage therapy was no longer responding as well). They made me sluggish and when I tried to stop them after just a few days I had very painful muscle spasms in my legs (which had been unaffected by the accident).
I'm assuming that Rush is still fighting pain. Again, I suggest that he at least look into the surgical arrangement that Mr. Lewis endorsed.
At least with Mr. Limbaugh away from the microphone leading into the 2003 fall election, the hosts will be able to focus on issues and not Rush's private matters.

It's damn easy. The last thing we need is to legalize addicted prescription drugs that help destroy lives, let alone recreational drugs.
Rush may well have lost his hearing because he had access to these types of drugs. There is nothing good about an addiction problem even an understandable one linked to severe pain. And, his situation is far different than some loser that decides to use drugs recreational.
Legalizing drugs will result in more addicts, the loss of innocent lives at the hands of those high on drugs and increase crime. No, we don't need to inflict that are our nation so liberaltarian morons can proclaim some perverted view of freedom.

Father, in the name of Jesus and according to Your Word, I hereby believe in my heart and say with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord of Rush's life. I also confess that from this day forward Rush is set free and delivered from drug addiction in the name of Jesus.
Satan you and your principalities, powers, and master spirits who rule the darkness, and spiritual wickedness in high places are bound up and Rush is loosed from you in the name of Jesus, as it is written in Matthew 18:18-19. No longer can you, Satan, harass or operate any of your unclean spirits or habits over Rush. He will not become the slave of anything that exalts itself over the Word of God or be brought under its power.
I hereby confess that Rush is strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in his innerself by the Holy Spirit who lives and dwells in his innermost being. Rush is strong in the Lord. He is empowered through his union with the Lord. He draws strength from the Lord - that strength which His boundless might provides.
Rush arms himself with the full armor of God, that armor of a heavily armed soldier which God has supplied for him...the helmet of salvation...loins girded with truth...breastplate of righteousness...feet shot with the preparation of the gospel of peace...the shield of faith...and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. With God's armor on, Rush is able to stand up against all the strategies and deceits and fiery darts of Satan in the name of Jesus.
As an act of his will and his faith, Rush receives complete and total freedom NOW. He is set free and delivered because he has called upon the name of the Lord, according to that which is written in His Word.
Rush is able to discipline his body and subdue it. He is strong. He is free. He withstands temptation, because Jesus is the Lord of his life. Jesus is his High Priest, and with Jesus and the Father on his side, Rush has the strength for all things. Greater is He that is in Rush than he that is in the world.
Thank You, Lord. I praise You that Rush is whole and redeemed from every evil work. With You and Your Word in Rush, he controls his body. It does not nor can it ever again control him in the name of Jesus. Hallelujah!
To: Skooz
Jesus delivered me from addiction by the power of prayer alone. I have not been tempted to use drugs since then. I am still amazed. You describe my experience exactly! Let us hope Rush can find our experience of protection and comfort through prayer.
