Democrats Clueless About Clinton Curse
October 8, 2003

This California election dealt a huge defeat to Bill Clinton, Gray Davis' top behind-the-scenes advisor. Gray's the latest jinxee in a long line of them from Algore nationally to state races in Hawaii, Minnesota, Maryland and more. When Clinton took office, the Democrats controlled the House and Senate, plus the lion's share of governorships and state legislatures. Now, the GOP holds the whip hand in all of those categories.

The Democrat Party can't win elections if it continues to be the plaything of Bill, Hillary and their handpicked DNC chair Terry McAuliffe. How long are the rank-and-file Democrats going to tolerate this cult of personality? How long are they going to confuse good things that happen to the Clintons with good things happening to the party? When are these Democratic presidential candidates – who went out to California to campaign for Davis, too – going to see that Clintonism has no political future?

This race was a rejection of liberalism run amok in California for the past 5 1/2 years. It focused on fiscal matters, and on those matters Schwarzenegger is conservative.

A caller named Steve made a point on this recall business that brought up George Washington. We owe everything to Washington. His morality is the sole reason we exist as we do today. His farewell and inaugural speeches are profound, and they are the very antithesis of people putting a party ahead of their nation. That's the assessment many people make when they watch what the modern Democratic Party is doing. This party looks at what's happening in the nation and thinks politics first. I know I should just let them destroy themselves, but I also know they won't listen to anything I say.

They seek to damage a president during wartime, because getting political power back is their one and only priority. Democrats seek to rule this country, not simply govern it. They don't trust the people or elections, which is why they want the power to mandate things rather than go through the legislative process. This is frightening to behold. Just look at how much progress they've made controlling free speech! It appears that they don't really care of the damage they inflict on the nation in the process of getting their grubby fingers back on the reigns. They figure, "We'll fix it later," and that nothing that could befall the country could possibly be worse than having Republicans in power.

The point that Rush was making is that when it was time for Washington to end his term, he could have, based on his popularity, basically declared himself president for life or some such but instead he valued the welfare of his country above his own. He stepped down, let the succession take place and the standard was set to the betterment of his country instead of his own interests. This is not the Clinton model.

Well .. I don't think Dean is that put off by the Clintons. After all, Dean openly stated he was getting political advice from Hillary.

The only thing Dean has said that the Clintons would take exception to is Dean's statement about getting rid of McAwful. Of course the Clintons don't want that .. and this is why they don't want Dean to get the nomination .. and are working to get the nomination for Clark.

No, no. This election had nothing to do with California. It was a referendum on Bush! All those people who threw out Gray Davis were actually wanting to throw out Bush!! It's true, I tell ya, It's true!!! They HATE BUSH NOT GRAY!!!! IT's TRUE!!!!!

My take is that the biggest loser yesterday were the Clintons.

Yep, I agree. However, for some reason they don't see it thank goodness.

I mean, what election has Clinton ever helped tip the balance in favor of DemonRATs since he left office? In almost each case where he campaigns, the DemonRATs lose.

Gotta love it and hope it lasts a long, long time.

They are overlooking the fact that Gray Davis has a crush on Bill Clinton.

No, I think it's more a case of: "A drowning man will cluch at a snake."

Not to nit-pick, but didn't Washington become president essentially by acclamation? It wasn't until after Washington retired that Adams, Jefferson, and Hamilton (and their cohorts) started the party process.

Well, did you know that "Washington's Farewell Address" wasn't ever given? Meaning it was never a speech?

You see, President Washington wrote this shortly before retiring (as close to "slipping aways" as a man of his predominace could do). It was delivered to one of the main papers in Philly, with Washington swearing the editor not to publish the "Address" until he (Washington) was well on his way back to Mt. Vernon.

The editor was as good as his word. The article was published after a time and in an important but still very matter-of-fact way. Naturally it was picked up, and treated the same way, by maybe a dozen or so papers. Then one paper (NYC, I think) hoping to boost circulation made it into a big deal, e.g. putting it on the front page, special font, labeling it "WASHINGTON'S FAREWELL ADDRESS", etc.

"And now you know the rest of the story....."

I agree with that. Every time that someone cites a "Presidential Tradition," the concept of a Presidential Tradition dates back to Washington. You mention his stepping down after two terms. Another tradition was that Washington decided to be referred to as "Mr. President" instead of a flowery "His Excellency" or "His Highness" as was the custom of the time. Washington wanted his title to be no more special than what another person would be called.

The Dims are their own worst enemies. Darn shame, ain't it?

But so are we, dammit! Trent Lott's replacement as MAJORITY LEADER comes to mind; and I can't even think of his name right this second (oh yeah, Frist), because he's such a nutless lightweight.

I wonder if graydavis dashed off that note to Bill Clinton yet in which he thanks BillyBoy for coming to Cali to campaign for him. Bill was so faithful appearing at Gray's side for a lot of photo-ops. Billy even made radio ads for Gray.

" Dear Bill," Davis might write, "You were a big help. Thanks for nothing. " Sincerely, Gray.

In 2002 Bill (and Hil's) campaigning had a hugely negative effect on candidates and caused unimaginable losses for the Dims including the Senate majority. Yet they still drag out this has-been to campaign. Will they never learn? Clinton's little more than a one-trick pony who's way past his prime. Put him out to pasture. Now.

Until the Democrat Party gets rids of Bill & Hillary Clinton and their lap dogs they will continue to lose ground. Right now they are on their way to becoming a minority party for the next twenty years. They gave away the election in 2000, got their butt kicked real bad in 2002 and got destroyed last night in California with Arnold and Tom McClintock garnering 64% of the the vote. Fact is, these retard Democrats just don't get it! Good plan, Karl Rove. Lay back, let Arnold carry the water, let the Dem idiots beat up on Bush unabated and now slam the low life liberals while they are down with a strong Bush comeback. Please don't fear Wesley Clark. He's dead, he just doesn't know it. He'll soon be joining nutso Bob Graham as a failed candidate!

When the fledgling U.S.A. decided it needed a leader, it offered Geo. Washington the position with the suggestion that he be proclaimed King, a much more powerful and lasting position than President. Washington declined saying that a republic needed to have a leader who was chosen by the people with periodic chances to evaluate performance and make changes. Imagine Slick offered the same!!!!!

"...let the Dem idiots beat up on Bush unabated..."

Ah yes, Muhammud Ali's famous victory in Zaire which he referred to after the fact as his "rope a dope" when he beat George Foreman by absorbing a pounding to the gut over 7 or so rounds. After that, Foreman could barely lift his arms and Ali wiped him out in short order.

I honestly don't think the democrats know how to get rid of the that horrible, truly horrible duo. With the help of the press, they fed this sociopath and his equally sociopathic wife, encouraging them and defending the indefensible in order to retain power.

Unfortunately the DNC has become tethered to them, unable to break the chain (FBI files?)and now have had to sacrifice their party, along with any ounce of conscience they might have once had, to the dark, insidious tornadic klintons.

Susan Estrich is right, and we know she is right. If you are like me-you have even seen your own family members, who once thought the klintons were terrifc, now cringe at the thought of that icky, immoral duo.

The DNC brought this filthy pair to us, along with their attached hopes of power and the money this sociopathic duo is willing to garner for um....illegally or whatever (which, of course, was the attraction). Now the DNC is stuck with um. And America has moved on because the truth just has a way of coming out....it always does.
